An ESL OB/GYN dictator on laparoscopy, ovarian cystectomy & lysis of adhesions:

"A speculum was placed in the vagina to visualize the cervix. The cervix was <__________> with a uterine sound and a single-tooth tenaculum."

S/l "reticulated" or "articulated".

Please help. Thanks.

...but what's being said has more syllables. An "R" sound and "iculated" can be heard clearly; the lead-in to that, not so much.

Anyway, you've affirmed my instincts about what should go there.

CAN YOU MAKE OUT THE FIRST "SOUND" OF THE WORD "r"? AND IS ICULATED AT THE END?

As in OP, s/l either "reticulated" or "articulated" but can't say for sure that the "R" sound is the first said, just the first I can hear.

in my limited family practice when our physician does an endometrial biopsy, she says the "cervix was introduced" so that gives you an idea of "what" but doesn't help you with your particular word. Hopefully, in the future he will say it again.....

It could very well be a similar situation here. To be on the safe side, I left a blank. If it gets filled in, will try to remember to post so we can all have some satisfaction.

This is a colonoscopy report and this is the first time this has come up for me. I'm not exactly sure but it sounds like he is saying a type of shelf. s/l ballooners shelf He says it fast so I can't be sure but shelf sounds right. "A rectal examination revealed a mass in the area of the cervix and uterus, questionable ___ shelf." Thanks in advance. ...
