How to correct? - sm

Patient with bladder cancer. PA clearly dictates "heme-ish looking urine" and "hemey looking urine". How would one go about correcting this? It's been a long day and my mind is fried.

I type as dictated and would leave it - NM

If the PA doesn't like it, then he/she should dictate it differently next time.

I work on verbatim accounts and would leave just as dictated. In the "old days", I would have recasted the sentence but not anymore. Check with you client profile and/or supervisor to find out what they would want you to do.

"heme-" - refers to RBCs

typical PA stuff :) the doc has to sign off on this stuff (or should).

bladder CA (or a UTI) can show RBCs in UAs. in a hurry? assuming the doc will dictate all the lab results?

anyway, yah--i'd transcribe just that way (except i'd type "heme-y."

I sent in a report with 2 blanks because of a discrepancy. When I got the feedback, every single time I typed "diabetes type 2" as was dictated, it was corrected to "non-insulin-dependent diabetes type 2." If that's how they want it, it's okay with me, but it seems a tad like padding the line count! ...
