CT scan shows "organilized" atrophy - see message

Doctor is reading from a report and stumbling on most words. I've gotten all but one:

"CT scan showed the ventricles and sulci were prominent and consistent with age-related volume loss in **s/l orginalized** atrophy."

She pronounces it out slowly: Orj-uh-nuh-lized

Any thoughts? I feel like I should know this, but I just cannot figure it out. Thanks.

not generalized - she speaks so slowly the word must - start with an "o"

The most frustrating words are the ones that the doctors try to sound out clearly but still really mess up.

I vote for NM above, listen again and see if you can hear it differently, sm - jmn

Atrophy can be generalized, which means that all of the brain has shrunk; or it can be focal, affecting only a limited area of the brain and resulting in a decrease of the functions that area of the brain controls. If the cerebral hemispheres (the two lobes of the brain that form the cerebrum) are affected, conscious thought and voluntary processes may be impaired.

I agree that it probably should be generalized or even regionalized - however, what she says does not match either - sm

It almost sounds like she's saying "orange" something-or-other.

I'll have to send it to QA, obviously, because I can't just assume what she means. I asked here, though, because I thought perhaps there was some more obscure (to me) term that I was missing.

Maybe the "in" that you're hearing is actually "and"?
