C phone with portable unlimited long distance - Abo

Posted: Jun 23, 2013

I currently work for a hospital on the West Coast and I'm in Georgia.  I use a C phone to connect and have Vonage for ULD at home.  My question is I'm trying to get ULD portable.  I want to be able to go off for the weekend without having to ask off work.  I want to be able to take my ULD with me anywhere I go but obviously has to have phone jacks to plug up the C phone.  Verizon has something that would work I think but the complaints are voice quality and I cannot chance that.  Does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Ooma phone maybe? - Nimvin

I just today checked into the Ooma phone. An older post on here says that it recognizes tones for C-phones. It's free for anything under 5000 minutes a month (not useful for an MT), but only $40 a month for unlimited nationwide, so maybe that's an option for you??

Oops!! Forgot to mention - Nimvin

Sorry.......forgot to mention, it works off INET so no need for phone jacks at your destination!! You just need a good INET connection.

I dial in on a Dictaphone for up to 8 hours per day.  It is not a continuous connection but I do dial back in to the system around 10 times per day.  I am currently using Vonage but I wanted to find out if any other transcriptionists use the MagicJack - and if so, how well does it work?  Would anyone recommend it?  Thanks! ...

Advice Wanted Regarding Portable Phone System
Feb 11, 2011

I bought a new portable phone with built-in answering machine and 2 handsets that has the DECT technology which is supposed to help with interference from wireless internet, etc. This phone is the WORST. I can barely hear sometimes. It sounds like a cell phone going in and out of range, but it doesn't do it all the time. Sometimes it's as clear as a belll. Has anyone had a problem like this? I need to return this phone while I still can, but I need some advice in getting a system that ...

Portable Computer Cart Ideas?
Feb 27, 2010

As my family leaves the next, I would like to be able to come out of my work "closet" and be able to set up in my family room by a big window.  However, when we have guests, I would like the option of moving the cart back into the closet.   Has anyone found anything that works for this?  The cart has to be sturdy enough to hold all the computer hardware including a printer.   So many that I see have a support or floor under them which would prohibit the use of a foo ...

Coding Classes Through A Distance Learning Program

I work full-time as an MT and take coding classes through a distance learning progam, I'm about half way through and have just started to learn coding; first inpatient, then outpatient.  My MT job is good now, on-site with plenty of work and good pay, but we are moving to EPIC and VR and job cuts are imminent within the next year or so.  I am thinking ahead to coding jobs, though, and recently applied for a medical records clericial position where a small amount of coding would be involv ...

Sprint "unlimited" High-speed Wireless Internet
Sep 10, 2010

FYI for all.  I have had an "unlimited" Sprint Internet plan for a number of years working at home without any problems.  Sprint has apparently decided to put a cap on the plan, of which I am shortly to exceed it without any prior notice.  I am told my only resort is to pay for the overage or cancel my services, which I just renewed contract on conveniently enough for Sprint.  I'm still working on my "issue" but thought I'd give others a headsup.  If you have S ...
