Portable Chest X-rays - RADMT

Posted: Feb 08, 2011

For those MTs who are radiology MTs, when you transcribe portable chest x-rays, does your hospital or MTSO require you to include not only the date of the portable chest x-ray but also the time?

Yes. In certain cases they do multiple ones a - day. NM

Yes, absolutely...sm - RADMT

Doctors check on the progression of the patient with successive chest x-rays. If the radiologist does not dictate the time on a portable chest x-ray, it is probably an oversight. When I worked at the hospital (physically present there, not at home), and a time wasn't included, I always pulled the x-ray jacket and took it to the radiologist to let them tell me what time to type. I could usually figure it out, but I would take the films to them anyway just to be sure. Many inpatients have several successive portable chest x-rays in one day, so to see them in order is very helpful to the attending; otherwise, they would have to take the time to figure out the order themselves.

Also, the technologist would get QA'd if the time stamp was not included on the film.

If dictated, definitely type the time in the heading.

Hope this helps, and I agree with other replier.

Portable Computer Cart Ideas?
Feb 27, 2010

As my family leaves the next, I would like to be able to come out of my work "closet" and be able to set up in my family room by a big window.  However, when we have guests, I would like the option of moving the cart back into the closet.   Has anyone found anything that works for this?  The cart has to be sturdy enough to hold all the computer hardware including a printer.   So many that I see have a support or floor under them which would prohibit the use of a foo ...

Advice Wanted Regarding Portable Phone System
Feb 11, 2011

I bought a new portable phone with built-in answering machine and 2 handsets that has the DECT technology which is supposed to help with interference from wireless internet, etc. This phone is the WORST. I can barely hear sometimes. It sounds like a cell phone going in and out of range, but it doesn't do it all the time. Sometimes it's as clear as a belll. Has anyone had a problem like this? I need to return this phone while I still can, but I need some advice in getting a system that ...

C Phone With Portable Unlimited Long Distance
Jun 23, 2013

I currently work for a hospital on the West Coast and I'm in Georgia.  I use a C phone to connect and have Vonage for ULD at home.  My question is I'm trying to get ULD portable.  I want to be able to go off for the weekend without having to ask off work.  I want to be able to take my ULD with me anywhere I go but obviously has to have phone jacks to plug up the C phone.  Verizon has something that would work I think but the complaints are voice quality and I c ...
