USB 2 foot pedal to work with Express Scribe - Vera

Hi Everyone: I need to take a test for a job and I have to use Express Scribe. I have done this before and had to use Hot Keys which for me takes forever. I have USB 2 foot pedal. Does anyone know how to make USB work with Express Scribe? In other words how to sync them up. I looked at directions on Express Scribe but it is a little confusing for me. My hubby told me on this computer I am using it does not a Com port, but a serial report and now not so sure I can make it work. I really really do not want to use hot keys There are 4 test reports, but short thank goodness. I know there is a way. I just have not figured it out yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Express Scribe is pretty good about footpedal compatibility. When you plug in your USB pedal, do your see your PC say "Found New Hardware" and install the software for it?

If so, you should then be able to go through the wizard for ES.

Do you know what model pedal you have? I know for a fact the ES works with the Infinity pedal line.

I had downloaded the free version just for test. I have done this before for other tests and still could not get pedal to work for me. The screen shots you sent was exactly what I did and it did not work for me. Thanks for the input. I am not sure what is going on. The work which was sent was from Olympus player and I have that does MT working Using Olympus and she has Olympus foot pedal and Olympus software and works fine for her. She had tried a regular USB pedal when trying to do work in an Olympus and never got it to work for her and then she used all Olympus equipment and pedal too and no problem. I most likely will just take the test and use Hot Keys which I hate to use, too slow that way. I will eventually work on trying to solve my problem. It just does not recognize any type of hardware being added and the Wizard install just does not see it after I go thru the setup. Who knows at this point and I am sure it is something simple.

I have had a VEC Infinity foot pedal for over 10 years. Have used it with no problems whatsoever on Express Scribe and many other transcription platforms. I went into options and all the settings seem to be in the hundreds and described as (ms). Not familiar with that at all. I always set my pedal to seconds. My rewind is extremely slow and when I take my foot off the pedal and then on again I need it to rewind a few seconds so as to not miss anything. I have a pedal that I used with Express Scribe about 5 years ago. It says IN-BMG on the bottom. I have voice files sent to me that I cannot play in Windows Media or Express Scribe. They will load in ES but show 00:00 duration. I thought possibly it was an encryption error as they possibly they are coming that way to be because they are secure but I sent to a friend and she can open them and play them. Hi, I bought ES Pro in 2012 and have not had any problems with playing dictation. I also have DSS to WAV to convert files. I converted a DS2 file to WAV but a message pops up that I'm using a "demo trial version for evaluation use only" and I now need to purchase an upgrade. Ugh!!!
