Buzzing noise with Express Scribe

Hello, I am new to using Express Scribe and it has been a great program so far! I was just wondering if there was a way to eliminate back-ground noises so you can better hear the dictator?? a way to isolate the voice? I have voice files sent to me that I cannot play in Windows Media or Express Scribe. They will load in ES but show 00:00 duration. I thought possibly it was an encryption error as they possibly they are coming that way to be because they are secure but I sent to a friend and she can open them and play them. Hi, I bought ES Pro in 2012 and have not had any problems with playing dictation. I also have DSS to WAV to convert files. I have just started having trouble with Express Scribe. Regardless of whether I am using the foot pedal or the function keys, it is as if the program does not recognize what I am doing. I've used Express Scribe for years and years, however, lately it has been locking up on me and the only way I have found to get it unlocked is literally shutting my computer down and restarting.
