South African Doctor - Sounds drunk!

On my account, we have this doctor who is very picky (all his files go to ACR - i.e., automatically get reviewed by QC) and often can be hard to understand. While English is his first language (I assume), from what I can tell, he's from South Africa. Of course, many Americans confuse a South African accent with that of an Australian or New Zealand accent.
Today I realized why he's so hard to understand sometimes: Because he sounds like he's DRUNK! Seriously, between the thick SA accent, the tone and timbre of his voice, and the way he slurs things together, it sounds like he's a big 'ole drunk!
I think from now on, thinking of him as being drunk while dictating will help me get through his often identical dictations. Even speech recognition often leaves off at least the last 3 to 4 words in his dictations.

He starts a sentence, a very long one, with all kinds of moving parts, has a long pause, burps, then starts an entirely new sentence without finishing the first one. He is also slurring like crazy. The more he dictates, the worse he gets. I look in the queue and see that there are several more and I know I'm in big trouble. I know he's drunk. It's hard to transcribe a drunk.

But, on the drunk subject...we had a radiologist at our hospital that was such an a-hole!!!! So picky. Always complained about every x-ray not being what he said. Now, I have 20 years experience and my co-workers the same or even more. Superiors hounded us so bad about messing his reports up that we were a nervous wreck. My hands would literally shake trying to figure out what he was saying. We could not stand this man. Well, years later the old turd was found drunk reading x-rays. He was the nighttime radiologist and it is nice and quiet and all to yourself down there at night so you can booze it up discreetly. We all said....WE TOLD YOU!!!! He was fired. We were happy.

Ask your CCM tonight to temporarily help out in the South if you are NJA. I hate to draw people to my accounts and risk running out of work, but considering these accounts are going to go late in a couple of hours and they have already threatened to leave if TATs aren't met, it's worth the risk.
