Transcenders are nothing special? Oh yes we are. Worked for a hospital system for over 20 years, was sold into slave labor to Transcend and now Nuance, the Wal Mart of transcription, is taking over. Sit here daily wait, wait, wait for work on an account that I KNOW GOOD AND WELL there is work on. Nuance, the Wal Mart of health care does not care about YOU, ME or the next person. All they want is $$$$$.

I worked for nuance and had 3 accounts and no work on all 3, now I'm at different CO and the same sh**. No work, but hey nuance has its daily we are hiring ads up for more people to sit around with no work and as does my Co. Funny to them, not to me.

If you read this forum, you will see that at all the companies bought out, people felt they were special. Most of us are conscientious, hard workers. It makes no difference. Personally, I have almost 3 decades of acute care experience with large-size hospitals and teaching hospitals, QA in the 99% plus range, heavy ESL accounts. If I was not retiring within the next year, I would not stay, that is for sure. Just trying to give you a heads-up not to expect special treatment. Don't say you were not made aware of what lies ahead. Keep up the highest production you can with at least 99% accuracy, and you will get by, albeit, with less $$$. All within 40 hour work week with nose to the grindstone. Strict scheduling. Peace.

"care" about you? You're not alone in that, of course. There are millions who thought they had a (tacit) deal with the wealthy, that if they sided with their wealth grab they'd allow some of the extra to seep down. Now, belatedly, they're outraged because just the opposite happened--business took advantage of dismantled protections to milk and cheat everyone, supporters included right along with those who tried to stop this.

Other people, based on 5000 years of history, including our own 200+ years, expected exactly what this delusion allowed, even helped, to happen.

In any case, you're NOT a slave, not even close to it. In fact, you're a free person who is supposed to take care of yourself. You are screwed over, of course, but whose fault is that? I am assuming you are a citizen with the power to vote?

BTW, if you are finally tired of being betrayed by those you trusted all these years and are ready to exercise your power as a citizen, I refer you to the Born Again American thread. There are 300 million members of the working classes in this country. Nothing happens here unless we allow it.

Years ago, hospitals were charged 15 cents a line. Now you see ads for 9 cents. You all know all the factors that make this possible. The executives are not going to lower their salaries; they are going to continue to try to lower their cost per line of transcription. In searching the web for a new job I keep running into federal and state stats that say the low end salary of a newbie transcriptionist is $14 and high end is $24. They must be talking American dollars because Indians make $0.78 an hour. I turned in my 2-week notice and working the last week of the notice. When can I expect to get my last check as I am waiting on labels from the company to send back computer and cannot get CCM to answer as to if check will be held until computer is returned? Is there anybody with this experience that can tell me how long to expect to wait for the check and to wait for the labels as I have nowhere else to turn for the answers? I'm no genuis, but I think I have to make some changes here. My PT check for 20 hours was around 100 less than my FT 40 hour check. I like my FT job, good accounts, great supervisors, but the lines just don't accumulate there like anywhere else I have ever worked. Well, to the poster below in ESL garbage land, first let me say. I too was in that same place 2 weeks ago. An addition to my regular account, but it was all I was getting and NOT getting my OP notes at all. The reports were not more than 20 lines usually, but I spent much, much time in trying to decipher and be FTR. My CCM was very good about it, and told me it would be taken off and I would not have to do that account any longer. Of course, I wish I had ...
