Those of us who work on Dictaphone know we check our lines on iChart. It's not a very good system since it doesn't allow you to match lines with a specific job, only allowing you to check your total lines in bulk or by the hour (which seems to be in EST, but not 100% sure).
However, has anyone else ever gone into each file after you typed it, gotten the statistics, and checked it against what iChart says?
I've done this a few times when work was really slow and I had the extra time, and also when iChart had been down. What I found was a HUGE discrepancy. As in, when you finish a file and do a CTRL+S to search for your files, find the one you just typed and hit the "statistics" button, then scroll down and look for the lines. That won't match what iChart says, and I have never been able to get anyone to explain why they don't match. I mean, if Dictaphone is telling you how many lines a file is (as in, NOT just the "Word" line count feature, but actually the program that should be tallying things for you), then shouldn't iChart match it as well?
Legally, I think this should be crystal clear for us. When a regular employee goes to work and clocks in, he/she knows they are making $X.XX per hour. They are told whether their clock system pays per minute, in 15 minute incriments, etc. They're required to tell you that. All we're told is that pay is on a 65-character line, with spaces. But does that include headers? What does it exclude?
