3 POINTS OFF FOR WHAT????? - 7thchild

Posted: Nov 16, 2013

If you got the same email I did, then you are obviously doing the same account. Okay, it's bad enough that we have to deal with these perfect beings that talk 100 miles a minute, yawn, eat while dictating, change things back and forth (is it a he or a she?), thank God the typewriting days are over....remember the go back and change blah, blah, blah.... They are dictating next to a beeping machine or on a speaker phone, or are too lazy to put in the number or will spell Mary for you but not shinkelheimerschmitzerfluken..... ANYWAY, now because it is part of OUR RESPONSIBILITY to figure out if the dictator punched in the correct work type for the location he or she is at and if there is a corresponding account number that matches these and if it is a resident, if there is a co-signer and if they say copy to Dr. Taylor an there are 30 Dr. Taylors, we are supposed to look up an old report and see what Dr. Taylor might have seen this patient... (ONE LONG RUN ON SENTENCE, I DON'T CARE!) Now, because this lovely clerical part of OUR DUTIES that we should not have to do for 4 CENTS A LINE, we are going to get dinged for 3 points if this information doesn't match up. When I got started on account and was trained for about 30 minutes, I asked the account lead and supervisor to clarify and never ever ever ever got a response. 3 points? Ugh. So sick. I wish I could find something better. I used to actually like to transcribe. This is a NIGHTMARE.

One of my accounts when a report is flagged for QC/QA, there has to be an elaboration note AND it also has to be noted in the patient demographics somewhere. I recently flagged a report with 2 different problems/reasons for QC/QA, put the elaboration note(s), and actually forgot to put ONE of the reasons in the patient demographics area, and what do you think happened? Yep, I got dinged and a snippy little comment that had the Account Specifics copied and pasted into it stating all about how it MUST be noted in all areas, blah, blah, blah... like I didn't already know that. It just takes up so much time to do that particular account because of all the little "special" instructions the account requests that sometimes when I'm trying to actually MAKE a dollar, I do forget to do something. Good Lord, just take me out behind the barn and shoot me already!

I so feel your pain. I'm dreading looking at FIESA, which I do about twice a week, because I'm pretty sure that I've been picked apart over the last week...always seems to happen when I request correction reversal for something that has to be reviewed really thoroughly or listened to a 2nd time by someone else just to be certain. I'm almost positive that what I requested to be reversed won't be reversed and there will be some long explanation as to why, but you know what? At least someone is having to work just as hard as I am to be perfect if it's going to have to be relistened to more than once.

I would actually welcome constructive criticism and/or teaching (mentoring) by a more seasoned QC/MLS than myself, but the crap that is happening with FIESA is definitely NOT about teaching, mentoring, or ANYTHING constructive. It's all about keeping us from making our bonus, making us second guess ourselves just enough that we slow down, double check every little thing, and make next to nothing on top of not getting the stupid incentive bonus or the stupid quarterly bonus (which I can assure you I'll never see in my lifetime!).

I just keep telling myself to hang on and take it one day at time because it won't be too much longer now before I will be quitting Nuance and more than likely MT altogether. I'm just plain sick to death of ALL of it at this point.

I'm made to look at FIESA DAILY!!! It's like tying yourself to the whipping post! The whole idea of this should include the MLS being able to hear it a second time and not go by what some QA person thinks the blank should be or the correction. It's very one-sided and grossly overbearing!

I used to like to transcribe as well. I transcribed for 31 years and when I started a new account with Nuance during the changeover I felt like the stupidest person in the world. I hardly had any work and then I got fired. If I could stand all day I would work at McDonald's. I have no money coming in now because I was on unemployment and they are denying me my first Tier emergency benefits because I'm under a doctor's care and can't walk or stand for very long. I have no idea what to do or where to go now. A secure job is not being a transcriptionist.

Deduction Points!??
Oct 26, 2009

Got an e-mail this morning that apparently a DOCTOR is entering the wrong access code and " If this information is dictated and not corrected on the ADT screen, it is a 3.0 point deduction, which often times will cause a failed audit score with this error alone."  So, what I get from this memo is that now we are suppose to know what their access codes are??  AND if I don't my report gets audited?  Do you other transcriptionists know what each of the physician access cod ...

QA Score Deducting Points If They Are Able To Resolve The Blank...
Jan 29, 2015

Is this new? I just noticed that the last report I had sent to QA had .25 points deducted because they were able to fill in my blank. I know these scores don't count like QC scores do, but I find it bizare that they deduct points for it. I feel like I'm being punished for not being as swift as a QC person. Yikes! I did hear what the doctor said, but it didn't make sense to me so I wanted another opinion before it went to the client. Isn't that what we are supposed to do! ...
