bunion - unemployment/TAA

Posted: Mar 23, 2010

My question got buried below, but you said you received UE.  What sort of proof did you have, if any?  I'm kind of in a rough spot here, I have been with this company 16 years and have jumped through the hoops but I can't anymore.  I've also battled the NJA screen and begged for work.  So if anyone has anymore to offer it would be greatly appreciated.  I'm unable to work at the moment.  I also spoke to Rosemary, she seemed very helpful over the phone, and advised me to send her an email, which I did and never heard back.  I've been to the One Stop Center in person, spoke to numerous people and I just get shuffled around.   If anyone has advice on what to gather, what to say to get things moving in my favor, please provide.  TIA

Instructions - I got it done.

[ In Reply To ..]
1) Quit.
2) File for unemployment on line immediately.
3) Fill out the form with graphic detail. Say what they did to you and don't spare any detail about pay, unanswered e-mails, unreturned calls, performance management, pay cuts, NJA.
4) Wait for decision.

If you are approved, follow those instructions and then file for TAA through the counselor at the unemployment office.

5) File an appeal if necessary.
6) For the appeal get copies of the SEC filings for the CBay deal, copies of the petition and ask how many people have been really "laid" off in your state.
7) Expect to spend about 90 days on this project and expect to succeed.
8) Everyone who hears what they did and how they tried to get rid of 3,000 transcriptionists by torturing them instead of laying them off will instantly gag.

Don't let the paperwork scare you. Fill out one page at a time.

this is very informative - sm

actually CAN get unemployment if you quit for a GOOD REASON?

California Law - unemployment

Under the law, the employee is presumed to have had âgood causeâ to quit unless, or until, the employer proves otherwise. It is likely, however, that you will be expected to show âgood causeâ for your decision to quit and to describe your efforts to preserve your employment.

So you see,
Medquist has to prove you did not have good cause. ROFL!
And thank you again. Do You Hear that MQ? - Kiki

So long as my pay remains unaffected by this new scheme, I won't quit. However, if my pay gets docked even once after sending "too many" reports to QA, especially if they were unfamiliar, horrible dictators, crappy audio, etc, and esp if QA could not get the blanks either.....I don't have to wait for you to fire me or lay me off (in both cases I'd still get UI). But if you try to FORCE my hand but underhandedly and unfairly docking my pay....I have ALL the information right now that I need to file for UI and TAA.

So go ahead, make my day.......

I just had NJA so much I had to go. Went to UE and they gave it to me. No questions, no waiting, nothing. I am in Iowa, but got it until I got another job. It was easy, at least for me. They looked at my pay records. I should have done it sooner as I lost about 2 weeks of pay.

You need to call Rosemary again -- explain you sent email - got no response from her

She receives tons of email. If you call her again, provide your state and ask her to give you a contact name for assistance in your area with TAA. Ask her if she can provide information why you were denied, especially after a 50% drop in pay, and the fact other MQ MTs have already been approved for TAA based on being in similar/same situation. Call her again. Leave detailed message or be prepared to ask her the above information. She took a while to respond to my email, but always helped out when I placed a call. Please don't give up. What state are you in? Other MTs might be able to assist you if you provide state. Thanks.

Bunion? Thought you quit and found much - better job months ago ?NM

Shipwrecked, Bunion And Sunshine State, Our Retirement Home.
Feb 18, 2010

Hi ladies, I have no work again today, so I had some time to do this.  I live in the North and as I look out my window all I see is snow (measured in feet), and I really hate the winter.  I thought it would cheer me up to post more pics of our retirement home.  I must admit I did get a little carried away, and there will probably be another post with even more pics.  I have included in these pics different huts, water, beach and inland, but I could not resist posting some pi ...
