To all the MMEs out there, - do you think the ILP MTs

Posted: Jun 19, 2012

ever read any feedback?  I don't.  So frustrating.

what I wouldnt give to see some of those reports - gotta know

[ In Reply To ..]
I really wanted to be an MME to see the quality of the reports, but I was so afraid of a pay cut, so I chickened out.

Not anymore - I did at first

[ In Reply To ..]
but I've seen the same mistakes over and over so many times that now I don't think they do. Of course, if I had 30 or 40 to look at every day, maybe I wouldn't either.

Some of them make so many mistakes - sm - On My Way Out

And they are the same mistakes over and over and over again. They don't look at their feedback. Aren't they afraid of getting fired? Or NEVER getting off 100% QA?

and those are supposed to have been QA'd - at least once before we get them

[ In Reply To ..]
that's the really scary part.

Sorry, I was referring to the American MTs being the ones who repeatedly make the same errors. The Indian MTs really do a good job. There are never any formatting issues with them, and they always spell all the medical terms right. Their issues are more grammatical, and they seem to improve. The American MTs make the same errors over and over, and their errors are random, such as wrong formatting, leaving out words, adding words, and never using the correct headings. My work is much easier with the Indian MTs.
I guess you don't QA the ILPs, then - or else you are being sarcastic.
[ In Reply To ..]
But you just put every American MT on blast for your comments. Or are you that poster that purposefully writes this kind of stuff to incite indignation and even hope to get angry posts so that you can gloat that someone "bit?"

I didn't mean any sarcasm, no harm, no meanness. I'm completely sincere. I QA so.me American MTs that I see day in and day out who are awful. They never improve, and in fact some days they are much worse. The Indian MTs are easier to QA. They make certain mistakes such as leaving out "the" or adding too many "the's". Their formatting and medical terminology are always excellent.

I have no agenda in writing this whatsoever. It's just what I see. I don't know what an ILS is, but I do QA Indian MT's every day.

We do have a lot of injustices such as awful pay and stupid treatment, but I do see the quality aspect, and there are some American MTs who should be hanging by a thread. I find it odd that the Indian MT's have already been through 2 QA's and we are the third. Surely it costs more for MModal to pay 3 QA's and an MT for each report. Strange.
That's a load. - !!

Sure some American MTs make mistakes, sometimes over and over and don't have a desire to read feedback and put it into action. But guaranteed, Indian MTs (International Language Partners, which you would know if you were an MME)have HORRIBLE quality. Some are okay, but most I get are very bad. I hope all you U.S. MTs reading this know that this poster, On My Way Out, definitely should be on the way out, and out of this forum first. But's let's try to refrain from allowing her/him to make us look stupid by letting her/him get under our skin. Anyone who is an MME going over the work of the ILPs, knows the quality of their work.
Um, yeah ... I really have NO IDEA what you're talking about - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
There is NO WAY you're an MME if you're saying the Indian MTs do a "good job" and the American MTs don't. I make *dozens* (not an exaggeration) more corrections PER REPORT when it comes from a global employee as opposed to when it comes from an American one.

I agree with the above poster ... if this is what you meant to say, you either must be kidding or you must be trying to get a rise out of everyone.
No Harm Meant - On My Way Out

I'm not talking about everybody, not every American MT and not every Indian MT, but I prefer to QA the Indian MTs. It makes my work much easier. I'm being completely honest, and I am an MME with many, many years of experience.

Congratulations ... you have to be the one and only MME on this planet that feels that way. The quality of our global employees' work is pretty much the butt of every MME joke. You must get the cream of the crop, if there IS such a thing.
It's Possible - On My Way Out
[ In Reply To ..]
That I get the cream of the crop. Right now I'm QA'ing an MME's work. She made a mistake in the first line. In the 5th line, she made another blatant error. There's an error in the allergies, and that's in the first 25% of the report. There were various words left out that I inserted without making a note.

I'm one of you guys, and I'm with you most of the time, but we have to be fair here if we want to have credibility and be treated fairly ourselves. We are not always right or wrong, nor are the overseas people, nor the suits. We are all at fault. It's our fault we are sitting here making less than minimum wage. We should tell the suits to shove it. I'm going to very soon. I agree with just about every word I read here, but if we're going to scream then we need to scream the truth. We need to clean up our own acts and be right. If everybody were to take an honest look at our work and their work we would all be much more scared. The Indians' work is not that bad, and a lot of times ours is worse, and we should know better. Do better and let's get off our butts and demand what we deserve. Stop screaming blindly and they will listen to us. The suits know what quality they get. We need to honest up here.

I have no idea what you are talking about - Another MME

I too have been doing this for countless years. Yes, you are correct in saying that some US MTs really shouldn't be MTs. I've reported many who really shouldn't have been taken off 100% but nothing is ever done about it, and I do believe they give us all a bad name and are probably in place to give MModal a "see, look at how bad they are" example when trying to pressure EPIC or similar to the clients.

However, to say they are worse than the ILPs is poppycock. It is extremely rare that I don't have to QA their reports 100% because I see a critical error near a blank. It is rare that I find an ILP report with less than 10 critical errors. Some have as much as 60 errors with half being critical. I have never ever QAd an MT with that many, let alone do more than one in a day.

The fact that you are the only voice among many who says the ILPs are better leads me to believe you are A) extremely lucky and getting the royal treatment, B) a troll, or C) an ILP.
I say B. - nm

I was QA'ing one American tier 3 MT for at least a month who averaged about 35 errors per report. Now I don't mean "the", "and", "an". I'm talking about serious errors, wrong dosages, misspelled drugs, typos. She has never improved even a tiny bit. I have a two others who are just like that also. They seem to get worse instead of better. I've seen one MME with over 10 errors in a report...an hour or two ago.

I get ILPs...I have no idea why I've never heard that term considering I've been at M*Modal for 12 years. I guess it's because I don't normally come to this site, and I keep a really low profile in general. So...I get ILPs with 10 errors as an average.

What's better...Americans with 30 errors or ILPs with 10? I have a LOT of experience and I have a very good ear. I live in an area that is very culturally diverse and I've always done 85% or more ESL. I've thought for a long time now that I'm getting the really bad stuff to QA. I've always thought they give me the stuff nobody else can do. The stuff I get to QA is really bad. Maybe you guys are getting better work than I am, but those are the numbers I see every day.

So a girl I worked with at a local hospital here now works for MQ, and I found out she is an MME, so I ask her, what exactly is an MME, she says she gets what we send to QA, corrects it, and types.  So....basically they are just QA people? But, don't QA people type too?   I just don't understand this MME position.  Any MMEs here that can tell me what an MME is (and I know it stands for Master Medical Editor, for the smarties)?  ...

To Those MT/MEs Who Became MMEs
Jan 13, 2011

Just got a request to test for the MME position.  I'm tier 3, 99% accuracy, and I've been here for 7 years, but I didn't take the test when they first offered it because I knew that my pay would take a nosedive.  I have a feeling they will be getting rid of all the regular MT/MEs shortly and keep only MMEs on board, but if the pay is actually worse, then it may be better to be given the boot.  I was told by CCM that it is mostly transcription work and not so mu ...

I've been getting a lot of reports from the ILP with "full review" or something similar in the QA note, but the report itself is not flagged for 100% proof.  After a couple weeks of doing full review at less pay, I've decided to just delete their request and fill in the blanks.  I figure if they want their reports fully reviewed, they can request their manager to put them back on 100% because I'm a bit fed up with wasting my time and money on making these ILPs look prett ...

MMEs Scare Me Sometimes
Feb 03, 2010

What's with checking the whole report when there's 1 flag in it?  Sometimes I'll leave 1 or 2 flags in a long report, and when I check my feedback I'll have 3 or 4 minor feedback, really little things that definitely do not impact the meaning of the report.  Scares me, feels like I'm being picked on.  Sometimes it's hard not to turn into a raging paranoiac around here.  I HATE leaving flags. ...

If you see significant errors in a report of an MT/ME, do you let the QC know?  They were taken off 100% QA so that means the MT must have passed her audits, right?  I just feel like I'm tattling or picking on the MT and I just want to know what other MMEs typically do.  Whether to repot to QC or just leave feedback (which is probably not checked anyway) and move on.  ...

Dear MMEs
Aug 12, 2013

This is to those nitpicky comma MMEs, so if you aren't one of the offenders, you can ignore this.  Seriously, leaving a feedback marker for every single comma that should or should not be there in your opinion is wasting everybody's time and is making MT/MEs fear sending any sort of blanks and may make some of them guess for those accounts where blanks are sent automatically, compromising patient care, just so it doesn't get sent to you.  You really should take your QA t ...
