I have always NJA on Thanksgiving. I have had a full shift of work.

Because after working 10 hours on the holiday and not getting to see my family while they enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner, I now get to come to work this Blackest of Friday mornings for a scheduled 10 hours and find NJA! No pay for me...lovely...

Apparently everyone else had taken their 6 minutes of NJA and no one else in my BOB had been working. Usually the dictation time is only 15 minutes behind transcription time, but it was 2 hours behind. Based on the job numbers,it appeared thar I was the only one online for my primary accounts. I had counted on getting 6 minutes of NJA and leaving for the night. The one good thing is I don't have to scramble for makeup time.

because after getting only 2 hours of work yesterday/last night, i just decided to stop looking and signed off and became one with the couch, after rushing to cook food and have our meal i was actually kind of grateful. and i figured me not constantly checking for work would leave more work for the rest of you dying for it. i have a little PTO which i'm fine with using. i kind of hope i run out tonight because i'm sick of this place.

This is absolutely AGONIZING. I sit watching the clock for the 6 minute wait and without fail, for the last 2 hours I've had ALL 5-1/2 minute waits and then suddenly one report will roll through. I swear they have it down to a science.

Today is supposed to be my family's "Thanksgiving Day" because I had to work yesterday. AND I'll have to work on Christmas Day too, because I got my PTO requests in too late. You can bet next year I *WON'T* be in this situation.

You would think they would devise a plan where each employee could have ONE of the TWO major holidays off, but not both. To those of us stuck working BOTH Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's really not fair.

So if a job rolls in at 5-1/2 minutes, the clock starts all over again after you finish that report.

It totally sucks ... all of it. It's just such BS. If there is so little work that we're doing more "waiting" than working, let us log off and be with our families for god's sake. Especially those of us who didn't get to spend time with our families yesterday.

I wait the 5-1/2 minutes and will do the job or jobs that pop up, but I will only do that 2 or 3 times max. Then I sill sign out and clock out, and keep checking during my shift. The only thing I dont do if I have not waited the magic "6" minutes is fill out an NJA ticket, and thus would not get paid (hahaha) for that "6" minutes. I have often had emails or conversations with TSMs that when the level is low, its okay to clock out and keep checking with or without the 6 minutes.

That is the way I handle it. It might be wrong, but it has worked for me so far. Granted, I am one who will make up my time if at all possible, not matter how much PTO I have left.

Everything about this company is unfair! I too have worked both holidays and had no work. I think if there was at least work, I wouldn't mind, but not knowing what you can or cannot do is nerve racking. Again, this place totally blows!

I agree. If you have to work, there should be something they could do whether it be editing or what have you. This is terrible sitting here waiting and waiting.... If you have no other choices, no PTO, you are stuck. If this is your only job like it is for me, well you are just out of luck. There is NOTHING fair about the job any longer. Nothing.

I did not even get in 2 hours and then per e-mail told that there probably will not be able to make it up this weekend. Guess because of NJA, I will be forced to burn PTO hours. YAY.

I have been watching these posts for a while now about everybody switching to nights and weekends and having no work. Why the big push for everyone to change to nights and weekends? I have worked in acute care for a long time and granted some of the dictation comes in in the evenings, but graveyard -- not so much. It would seem that there would be enough people WANTING to work evenings and weekends for various reasons -- work around a spouse's job, children's schedule ...

I really despise that it is taking 20+ minutes to EDIT this POS 1.34 minute dictation all b/c the dr has not learned how to speak and I have a Q full of his crap work. Such a shame I can't get paid more for each speaker that is difficult...oh what am I saying, I am lucky to get paid at all for doing the dictation. Just started a new job (this will be my second full week) and I am working Sun-Thurs 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. I actually have work all night and no NJA screen popping up. My problem is I start to fad about 4 hours in and hard to stay awake. Anyone working this shift or 11-7 or whatever, when did you sleep? I go right to be at 6 a.m. and can sleep about 6 hours (that is about all I slept when I worked the day shift and had no problem). I have tried taking a nap before ...

I wonder if any other late night MTs find things are sometimes really amusing...I know that it helps me to stay awake sometimes. I just had a medication list, but it seems that this patient got stuck at the beginning of the alphabet. The patient's seven medications were: Adderall, albuterol, Advair, Ambien, amantadine, Amaryl and Adalat. Makes me wonder if they going to start on the "B" medications next. lol What do some of the other late night MTs here do to help themselves ...

Last night an hour before shift end, I tried to upload job. Fluency froze. Usually it comes back on in a few seconds, but when I tried to close the program by the X at top right, it wouldn't work.
