Does anyone work 12 or 16 hours/week? I see in the policies there are such hours that can be worked. I am wondering how to go about switching. Should I just tell my manager next pay period I have to switch to 12 or 16 hours? It is due to medical conditions and I just got disability but I find I need a little bit more money/month to feel safe. Im wondering if they will give me grief. I have been here 17 years and always pass my audits, the last 2 audits were 99.75 and 100%. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Im thinking of doing the same, but assume they will give me THE worst possible hours possible.

no less and no more than 28 hours....but maybe for medical reasons they will make an exception. Good luck!

I felt ice coming through the lines when I requested to reduce my hours and I also have medical issues, but it was agreed to with a verbal warning of not being 1 minute short or that would be it. No pressure, right? But you shouldn't have a problem. I was on a bit of thin ice already because I hadn't met my hours due to OOW and being injured. I'm sorry again, but why are we in danger of losing our jobs for things that are out of our control? And are Saturdays mandatory for all now? (I'm also at 99.9-100%) Hope all works out for you!

The listing for working 12-16 hours/week is under policies and work employee classifications. The last classification is Flex PT where it says you can work 12 or 16 hours/week if you have financial or medical limitations.

We have a middle-aged woman on our team who only works 16 hours a week. That's all she wanted, to work on the two days her husband is on the road. It's her "fun money" as she put it and it keeps her busy when she's home alone. You aren't forced to work 20 hours a week unless that's the only thing your company is willing to offer. Check it out and see what happens!

you have a medical condition that prevents you from working more hours or you're on Social Security and can't make more than a certain amount per year. Otherwise, PT is 20 to 28 hours per week. There is no more flex PT anymore.

I can get a medical excuse no problem, my doc has been hounding me for years to do something else. I don't have limitations by say SSDI on my hours, I just really want to drop down, and if I can be flexible, that's just bonus points..I don't need company bennies either..I'm just afraid if I say I want to go P/T, they are going to say OK now your new schedule is evenings or overnight and then I am going to have to quit before I am ready.

I thought I read somewhere that the law which requires employers to provide health insurance for 30 hours and over is not working out and they want to change it.

MM part-time rules are not even 1 minute over 28 hours for PT - sm

and this is due to Obamacare. They do not want to pay bennies to PT, so their rule is not a second over 28 hours.

You just have to ask your HDSM. Tell her you want to go PT and ask her if you can keep same hours. If she says no to same hours, then you've got your answer and will have to figure out what you need to do. You can't find anything out if you don't ask.

I know there are so many on here who are fed up with Medquist. But, can anyone tell me if there is any shift or days that work is usually available? Overnight shift? Evenings? I have 2 friends who work for MQ and they are not out of jobs when they work. (well, that's what they tell me). They said it actually just depends on the account. Ok, I'm not as fast as I used to be and the doctors keep giving names of physicians that are not on their list and are spelled different ways so I take the time to look them up because blanks are not a thing I like to leave on a report. Today we get an email that we can no longer work off the clock which for me is a problem. I noticed when I took a day off without pay, at the end of the pay period, the PTO earned shown in UltriPro was only 4.14 hours instead of 4.62. I don't know about you all but my CCM is constantly asking us to work "extra," even when there are no late jobs and not an over abundance of dictation. What is the deal? I always thought that you could carry over PTO under 40 hours into the new year but someone was telling me today that they did away with that policy or are doing away with that policy and that you will loose everything now and start fresh with PTO.... Hello. I've got something I've been wondering about. I know that when saying something like "There is a 2-hour window ..." I should hyphenate 2-hour. What about when the word is plural? I thought "IC" meant you worked the hours that met YOUR needs. You're already taking a hit on benefits and taxes, so it would seem that schedule flexibility would be the only reason to opt for IC status. I applied for a job that was IC with hours of "any time."
