I know I have come across the answer to this question in the past, but can't seem to put my fingers on it now...... 1. CP 2/3. BOS then Standards OR Standards then BOS?

In reference to the q.h.s. question... since all 3 references usually appear somewhere on each CP, would not q.h.s. vs nightly depend on the order of reference materials used? The vast majority of my CPs have "BOS and Standards" at top and JCAHO at the bottom.

So much ambiguity....makes my head hurt.

REASONING? As far as dangerous abbreviations, if the CP mentions anywhere on it to not use these, then your next step would be JCAHO list, bypassing BOS? So q.h.s. would be left as such. IF the CP doesn't mention the JCAHO list, and BOS is next in line, then q.h.s. would become "nightly"? (pg 463, E2. Was told by past QA that 2nd edition was the one used by Medquist). Am I just making way to much out of this? Just want to make sure as I have been marked off both ways in audits and can't seem to get a straight answer. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

it is the Medquist standards to use the JCAHO list, so the order would be client profile (always first) and then the JCAHO list, period. So if q.h.s. is not prohibited on the client profile, it should be used as is, as it is not on the JCAHO list.

We were told to check the CP standards and then up-to-date BOS. I also check JCAHO as I don't always have the most updated BOS with the changes that seem to occur frequently.

then MQ standards, which is to use the JCAHO list. This is new within the last 6 months. Actually MQ standards go by the BOS 2. By the way, MQ uses BOS 2 only, not the new BOS 3. If you work for the Q, you can download a copy of BOS 2 on MQ Central.

I have a couple dictators who dictate impression/plan at the beginning of their reports. This comes through in ASR and so I have been leaving these at the beginning of the report even though it is not the way I was taught to do traditional H&P, consultation reports. Just bought Flip USB with audio KVM switch in order to be able to have 1 dedicated computer for work only and the other computer for unrelated work items. Have never used one of these before and just wondering if you were in your work program on 1, if you switch over to the other computer for say checking email, does the work computer shut down? Does anyone else have problems supplying work references? It seems the jobs I'm interested in all very emphatically ask for work references that can be verified and I've worked at home for just two companies in the past 10 years and had no contact with any other employees besides my supervisors. I definitely don't want to give the current employer as a reference so that leaves me one that I worked for six years ago. Not sure what to do in this case. ...
