I sincerely think that the majority of us work our schedules, take pride in our work, produce quality documents and have relatively low QA submission rates. However, I also think that there are a significant number who do not comply with some or all of the above, and they have caused this joke of a company to punish all of us. Just take one look at the reports on the Repository to prove my point.
I wish to all heck that I was young enough to start a whole new career, if that is what MT'ing still is, but sadly at the age of 62 and 40 years of Mt'ing behind me, it wouild be kinda hard to teach this ole' dog new tricks. It saddens me that we are treated no better than sweat shop workers. I was just told this week that the raise I had been hoping for (haven't gotten one since 2000) was denied because no raises are being considered at this time. I had passed my audit with 99.8 score, 2% QA submission rate, and met all of the other criteria, request was submitted but told, too bad, no raise. With all of the pay cuts in the last 4 years since the inception of the glorified and highly touted ASR (another complete ripoff), I have gone from $18 per hour to currently $10.80 per hour, less than my granddaughter makes at the local pizzeria part time.
After these last couple of emails in the last couple of days, I have fought hard not to just sit here and cry. I have worked in hospitals , doctors' offices and at other MTSO's, and no where have I been so grossly unappreciated and underpaid. For anyone young enough to get out of this profession, I say GET OUT NOW!!
My rant is over.......
