My take is that some bad apples have probably spoiled it for all..sm - MTfossil

I sincerely think that the majority of us work our schedules, take pride in our work, produce quality documents and have relatively low QA submission rates.  However, I also think that there are a significant number who do not comply with some or all of the above, and they have caused this joke of a company to punish all of us.  Just take one look at the reports on the Repository to prove my point.

I wish to all heck that I was young enough to start a whole new career, if that is what MT'ing still is, but sadly at the age of 62 and 40 years of Mt'ing behind me, it wouild be kinda hard to teach this ole' dog new tricks.  It saddens me that we are treated no better than sweat shop workers.   I was just told this week that the raise I had been hoping for (haven't gotten one since 2000) was denied because no raises are being considered at this time.  I had passed my audit with 99.8 score, 2% QA submission rate, and met all of the other criteria, request was submitted but told, too bad, no raise.  With all of the pay cuts in the last 4 years since the inception of the glorified and highly touted ASR (another complete ripoff), I have gone from $18 per hour to currently $10.80 per hour, less than my granddaughter makes at the local pizzeria part time.

After these last couple of emails in the last couple of days, I have fought hard not to just sit here and cry.  I have worked in hospitals , doctors' offices and at other MTSO's, and no where have I been so grossly unappreciated and underpaid.  For anyone young enough to get out of this profession, I say GET OUT NOW!!

My rant is over.......

I completely agree! GET OUT OF THIS PROFESSION - If you are young, get out.

I remember someone telling me that 15 years ago and I did not listen. They kept saying it was going to get worse with the way these unprofessionals are running the businesses.

I wish to God I did listen and more importantly, followed through with it.

Hang in there. I too have not had a raise since 1998.

There, you just said it yourself -- MQ did not give you a raise. - But somehow an incompent employee is to blame.

ARE you kidding me? Most of us work our rears off. MQ is full it. If someone does not do their job, they get fired. PERIOD.

There is no excuse, especially if you yourself have had an excellent work ethic with MQ that they could not give you a RAISE. Why? Because Susie Q. Public is not doing her job? How are the two related?

None of this has nothing to do with the employees who come through MQ not doing their jobs.

YOU are doing YOUR job, so what is the excuse that you can't be rewarded or compensated for that? No raise since 1998? Come on, please, let MQ be held accountable for something that is directly related to you and your work history and them.

There are no excuses for not giving us raises in all these years.

But if you want to blame people who are more than likely already fired, then I guess you go right ahead. But it does not make sense.

Do not blame it on the "bad apples," that is bunk. - Bad apples are nothing new.

We had our share of lazy employees in house in the hospital and with the service when they still had work in house. The rest of us did not suffer because of them -- they were flat out FIRED. MQ is devising all of this crap to keep money in their till to pay for their new EMR system and to also keep money in their own pockets.

You can't blame lazy people on what we are going through right now. Contrary to popular belief, MOST of MQ employees DO show up on time, DO their jobs VERY WELL and want to be PRODUCTIVE.

Like I said what is wrong with dealing with the ones who don't really want to work directly? That excuse, to blame them, if MQ is using it, is a LIE and COP OUT.

You should get a raise - MT Superstar

If you haven't gotten a raise, you should really talk to TM. It says in the email communication that the good MTs will be rewarded. If what you say is true, you should really reach out and see what happens. They obviously want to reward the good and punish the bad.......which are you? I know I am good .... !!!!

Apples And Oranges
May 01, 2012

Have a regular account been doing for years, all speech wreck.  Due to low volume, was farmed out to an account that is straight typing.  On an unfamiliar account and looking up old reports for nearly every doctor, I made over $50 more in 8 hours straight typing than I usually average on my regular familiar ASR account.  At least I am not crazy and I CAN still type.  ...

Oranges And Apples --- EHR And Point-n-click And Scribes
Nov 10, 2011

I think these ideas are getting used interchangeably when they are very different applications.  EHR is still transcribed documents, just not paper charts.  Facilities have already been on this for a good while now and the transcriptionist will basically see no difference as we don't usually handle a chart anyways in-house or virtually.  However, it is the point-n-click programs that are phasing out the transcribed document.  ...
