Is anyone working part-time at MQ? - sm - Susan

Wondering if they have part-time and what that entails, if anyone knows? Do you have to work specific hours, meaning, worse hours, because you are part-time? (Some companies make part-timers only work weekends). Are they any statutory employees?

Part-time is 24 hours/week - Old part-timer

I work 24 hours/week but have the schedule I chose because I've been here FOREVER. I don't know what they ask of new hires. I do get PTO but acquire it at a much slower rate than the full-time employees.

There are no statutory employees anymore as far as I know.

I got in on the flex time and supposed to work 11 hours a week. I don't even do that sm - mqmt

and they have not fired me yet. I just keep this job as a back up in case my regular job goes away! Been hurt that way already too many times. You can't do the flex part time any more, you do have to work 24 hours. This company is such a crock anymore. Used to be a decent company to work for but no more, just my 2 cents.

I did the exact same thing, kept this a parttime job and started a new fulltime job. I worked for the dean of library sciences at a college for over a year and every day since i quit that job about 6 years ago I am thankful i did keep this parttime job. You think mq is bad? Every day at that library was a nightmare. He actually said to me,"You listen to 2 people: God and me. And in this building, I am God." I didn't stay there much longer after that!

I was able to go from 40 hours per week full time (which I had done for over 8 years) to 16 hours per week flexible part time shortly before they did away with the flexible part time. Otherwise, with my school schedule, I would not have been able to do the 24 hours per week regular part time.

My new job as a graduate assistant (which I start next Wednesday) will be 20 hours per week, and I'll make almost twice as much money, plus the university will pay my tuition and health insurance. The only downside is that I'll get paid only once a month.

I knew that it wasn't true... Why did I give in?

I used to be M-F also, but was threatened with my job if I didn't give a weekend day and a night shift.

Wouldn't be that big of a deal financially anymore since I don't make diddly and would be nice to have a day off during the week to make appts and such.

but I'm a former Spheris employee and back in August we received an e-mail telling us that due to the buyout we will have to work a minimum of 24 hours starting in January and that more would be to follow. Well, it's January and I received nothing more and I'm still working 16 hours a week. Just curious if any other Spheris employees received that e-mail and had to switch yet.

I was told back in Oct or so - that I had to work 24 hours now - Nothing about not till January. So I've been working 24 hours since then - more misinformation, I guess. Also was told the Spheris requirement of 127.5 lph was still in place.

It is depressing reading about the poor treatment by some companies. Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done. For those who went full time to part-time with MQ (because you got another job)...how did that work? Did they approve the schedule you wanted, or did they make you take a schedule? I'm considering dropping to part-time. I checked out the MQ Central for the specs and it indicates 24 hours/0.03 PTO per 48 hr pay period/1.37 hours for a max of 5 days/40 hours yearly. My CCM said if I happened to work 39 hours in a week, I'd get more PTO accumulated during that time. She said there are PT folks who get just as much PTO as the FT do. I was talking to my CCM last week and she said the facilities just let them know they do not need them anymore, just like that. They go with their own VR. I don't trust anyone anymore so I secured a part-tiime job that I start in 2 weeks. I will not be getting much sleep, but I will have to suck it up.
