Average MT salary (those who work to line the pockets of the PIGS).... $17,000!!!!
I hope all these greedy people can sleep at night - sote

I'll be lucky to make 15,000 after making over 30,000 the past few years prior and up to 50,000 before that. It's unreal. Have had to take partial unemployment. It is sad. Seriously...an I still in America?
Similar story here...used to make about 45k, then 30k, now lucky to do 20... - Kiki

And oh yeah, they can sleep at night, on their $8,000 swedish tempurpedic mattress, while I try to make due on a saggy sofa bc I can't afford a new bed. They sleep just fine.
Geez - sote

It's so sad. I even seen text errors in my message... unfortimately, the give a !@#$ is gone now. Over 20 years of terminology and experience, worthless now :-( It's up to the American people to do something at this point. I can't do anything more and not have outsiders here in the US think I'm nutzo. If you aren't in an industry that has experienced outsourcing, I wouldn't expect you to understand. But my concern is...HELLO -your private health information, maybe even your social security # is going outside of the USA!! I am workingt here in the middle of the country, but working for an MTSO. It's not a good deal. Nothing else has worked. I just don't care about working here in this industry anymore, they have decreased the pay so much, I'd be better off with no knowledge and no experience to be a checker at Walmart; probably be more fun too. I have to find something that I enjoy again. I did find a trancription company and they seem pretty honest and I'm thrilled to see I still love this occupation afterall!!! It is just that I'm scared as hell that this next company I signed onto will be bought by MedQuist or Nuance though. My goal is to get out of the industry completely now. I have no choice pay wise and no confidence the economy will ever improve; I mean, seriously, our congressmen/senators cannot even balance a checkbook for crying out loud here in the USA. I have to do what is best for my family and I and unfortunately, it looks like this industry has gone overseas compleatly. Sorry USA. I had you safety and PHI in mind, but corporate Amwerica/India made that view a bit different for me now.
I am sure those people all... - digiti minimi

go to church every Sunday/Saturday whatever, so they can "look" like upstanding citizens. Make me puke!!!!
You can bet your 0.4 cents a line...(sm) - SickToMyStomach

they are sleeping like babies, and the only things waking/keeping them up at night is how they can get/take more. It's not only in the MT industry, either. Makes me sick.
And the Pigs whine if we want an unpaid day off. - And think 7 or 8 cpl pay is too high!

Those companies that gripe about profits could increase their company's bottom line if they dumped all the pricey management folks, and hired (for a reasonable, down-to-earth wage), some REAL people to do a REAL job... not sit there laughing and patting their fat bellies.
OINK, OINK!!!
Holy cow - !@#$%
[ In Reply To ..]
Blows my mind, especially whereas they have asked/told us that they had to cut back because of the economy and I have been told "we should feel lucky we have a job in this economy." In all the while, they are raking in more bucks. My blood is boiling!

Those figures speak VOLUMES. Anyone in this field who isn't totally pissed off by that information needs to check themselves for a pulse.

Here's some more icing on the fat cat's cake..... After Q acquired Spheris in 04/2010 things weren't bad for about 3 months. Then IT started with a pay cut on 08/19/2010 (yes, I remember the exact date) of about 10% plus the loss of bonuses and Internet reimbursement. This was followed a short time later with an Email from the "higher-ups" stating what a wonderful, profitable year the Q had had.... Talk about rubbing salt in an open wound! I had just gone through cost cutting in my own budget just so I could afford to have a roof over my head. I left the Q a year later (08/15/2011, almost to the date of that first pay cut .....to a non-MT field! Maybe someday I will be able to use some of the skills/knowledge I acquired as an MT, but for now my bills are getting paid and I might even have a little left over from time to time.....THERE IS LIFE AFTER THE Q!!!

Interesting that all the Occupy Wall Street posts have been removed, except this one. The moderator must have just missed this one. Does this site represent freedom of speech or not? I for one saw nothing offensive in any of them, so what's the deal?

Occupy Wall Street Oct 14, 2011Would YOU like to join me in the worldwide Occupy Wall Street movement? We will participate in our respective locales.
We have had a lot of talk about organizing a walk-out day on the MTSOs. Let's take this opportunity to meet while at the same time pooling our efforts with others who share similar struggles as us! Let's dispense with the talking and start doing and put our money where our mouths are.

Hitting A Wall Apr 20, 2010I am having such difficulty concentrating today. All these ASR charts with at least 4-5 corrections per sentence. What a waste. Probably minimum wage today. I Think The Writing Is On The Wall For Me Dec 04, 2012Okay, so I know what has been happening the past few months, but since it didn't affect me directly, I just kinda put it out of my mind. But since the first of the month, my BOB is out of work during my shift (late afternoon/early evening). This has never happened before. Wondering if it is because daytime people are switching to later hours or my work is going overseas? Not NJA yet, just unfamiliar work for the majority of my shift. If this is how it's go ...

DocQScribe 6.1 - The Writing Is On The Wall! Sep 03, 2010I just took the online training today and did my first reports using 6.1. The writing is definitely on the wall. Banging My Head Against The Wall Feb 27, 2012I keep getting dinged for comma usage, and I'm not one to overuse them, though I fully support the use of an Oxford comma. I am old school, and I've been taught the following about commas
1) They go before a conjunction when what could be complete sentence follows.
2) They do not go before or after (unless there is a strange circumstance, i.e, "indeed" or some such wording thrown in) a conjunction w/o a complete sentence following it.

I'm Hitting The Proverbial Wall Nov 11, 2014Lately, I've been checking my hourly production, every hour on the hour. For my first hour of work this morning, I stayed completely focused, no distractions except getting a quick cup of coffee (in the same room as my work desk) but quickly sat right back down again and went right back to work. What was my hourly rate of production for that hour?
$7.42.
