I know, I know ... all been said before but I need to VENT ! aarrrggggg

Not submitting QA checked box but reports are being QA'd, so took a look --

In past, QA person and I haggled about capitalizing (told it is, i.e., Emergency Room NOT emergency room).

For last month, moved to new account/region/CCM and these QA "experts" are marking me for ERRORS for capitalizing the example above (as previously instructed).

CP states acct is VERBATIM and "do not add headings" -- yet when they start dictating, say the PE, in sentence form and I type it that way, the QA genuius crosses it out, takes out a few words and makes "PE" the heading. Why bother reading the CP if they want it done to the preference of the QA nitpicker? !!

Also, they can't find much wrong with my work, so they are marking me for errors for things like leaving out "a" (is the doctor umm, umm, ah, ah, or saying the word "a"?) ... and is that really an ERROR? God, give me a break !!

*#&% it -- I've been doing this for 30 YEARS (even won QA/accuracy awards at previous employers) and here I can barely pass an audit -- so I'm just going to type the way I believe is correct. I am a "professional" MT, right? Should be trusted to know what I'm doing. Ah geez, why don't they just FIRE us all and get it over with already? end vent .....

I am getting marked off for "a" and "the" too. Sometimes cannot tell if it is an uh-hum or ahhhhh and have to carefully listen for "The patient" or if it is just "patient"!!! Takes most of my time up! ughhhhhhhh Not getting marked off for any medical word mistakes!

ESLs don't know the difference - Between a and the

I correct them so many times for A, THE, male/female, right/left, yet never get praise for that. I guess it's just part of my job, but sometimes using A or THE just doesn't make a difference. What I hate is when doctors use "A" before a word like "symmetric" and it's not clarified whether it's asymmetric or symmetric anywhere else in the report, but we're supposed to read their minds. Yes, I'm going postal, too, with QA.

Just keep doing your best and one thing I have learned (but apparently not well enough) is to keep your mouth shut because it doesn't do any good if you open it.

Maybe next time you can just go ahead and type the "umm, umm, ah, ah..." I mean, that's VERBATIM, right? And see how they like them apples!!!

Just so you are transcribing according to standards (MQ, AHDI and grammar), per the AAMT BOS-2: In particular, avoid the use of unnecessary or inappropriate capitals. Do not, for example, capitalize a common-noun reference to a thing or person if it is just one of many other such things or persons. Thus, emergency room and recovery room are not capitalized. Think of the rule for generic versus brand names for drugs. The generic term (common noun) emergency room is applied to all emergency rooms, so it is not capitalized. I am NOT KIDDING and I am not exaggerating I just spent one SOLID HOUR on a 500 second report from one of the worst dictators I've ever heard in my entire 16-year career, hands down. I literally made NOTHING for ONE FULL HOUR. Nothing. Almost 50 blanks and one full hour later, I honestly could not have given a crap by the end. They got what they got. I have been a MT for over 23 years and have always received praise regarding the work that I produce. Grant you, I am not a CMT and I definitely do not have the "know" that a lot of MTs have but still, as I said, I have held MANY jobs in this industry and have never had any complaints. Within the last two weeks I have tested for two different companies, most recent Probity, on MTtest and have FAILED both!! With Probity I never made it to the transcription portion of the test before ...

Is it just me, or are there some days when you just can't understand a normally easy dictator? I've had this all day long today. People who are usually very easy to transcribe are suddenly talking like they've got a mouthful of marbles or they're skipping back and forth all over the report. YAAAHHHH!!! Boy, do I feel better!! ...

with lots of blanks because of poor quality. What happens? I get hit with MULTIPLE invalid blanks. That is ridiculous. Would they rather have me guess. I don't care if everybody else in the company can hear it, if I can't then I WILL NOT guess just to keep from having to send it to QA or QC or whoever gets it.
