Since they don't need me, I am out the door as of 1 minute after telling them I was going. I was asked why I was not going to give them any notice? Can you believe it! AND....she asks me, who is this again, because I have two with names closely matching. LOL....TAH TAH, gotta love ignorance!

Congrats! Every part of me is wanting to call - and give notice.

I so want to say good-bye after 26 years of all the crap that I have allowed myself to go through with this company while I watch all my friends and classmates getting retirement packages and weeks and weeks off for vacation while my pay is lower today than the day I started working for this company. Why did I stay? I kept thinking it HAD TO GET BETTER!

From my experience with this company over the decades, whenever a CEO quits/fires, buyout/merges it just gets worse and worse, yet I hope it would get better.

Article that states Davenport chose to leave also states this company is focused on more productivity. Yep, I see it getting even worse for MTs. Company cannot get anything more out of me. Geesh, I cannot even make minimum wage for my state.

I just finished filing for retirement benefits. I had been debating for a while whether to retire at 62, but I finally made up my mind. In September I am gone. I will be getting more each month from SS than I am working and can still work if I want to as long as I make less than $15,000 a year. I don't even make that now full time anymore!

having panic attacks lately. Couldn't figure out where they were coming from. Then, I went to see a shrink and after a few weeks of therapy, found out that this job is actually making me sick.

I used to love being an MT but lately, I just couldn't handle it anymore. I feel like I am in a dog fight for a few scraps. Doesn't make me feel good that I have settled like that. I guess those panic attacks were a wake up call for me. Anyway, I guess I should have felt scared that I don't have a job to go to yet but, I feel happier than I have in a while. Once I made up my mind this was it for me, wow, it was an amazing feeling of relief and freedom.

I hope you all get out. I have a few friends who are MTs and not ONE OF THEM are staying in this business. I know, I am slow but I finally understand what the danger is in staying here, at least for me.

happier now and loving it. I was having panic attacks and anxiety and doctor told me it was my situation at work. I had no choice but to get out. It's been hard, but at least I'm healthier.

It is to the point that I just don't care if they fire me. I am so depressed and cannot sleep. I dread having to sit and work and then run out of work. I am terrified with this more production and having to meet 99.6% and getting my percents and feedback from reports I have edited. Been here 13 years. Never was this way until just the last 3 years.

and why I made the decision to take early retirement. I had feedback yesterday from a mandatory QA account that had 13 minor corrections on it! 13!! It was not even a difficult dictator, but they just had to correct nitpicky things, like putting an "s" on a word when either word was just fine. Just got so fed up. Plus this ASR work is killing me physically. My wrists hurt more than they ever have along with my neck and my eyes. It's not worth it.

I am now seeing a counselor telling me - it is this job.

Been having diarrhea all the time, not sleeping, constant worrying, constantly sitting and looking at this computer all the time checking for work. In reality, I am wasting my precious time all day for this company and I get paid $20 bucks for whole day.

Counselor telling me to get back to school and change my career or apply to other jobs. Also, it does not help when I am social person and looking at the MModal computer does nothing but FEEDS negativity to my brain everyday in every way.

This site feeds negativing, but you probably - didnt tell your counselor that

From the posts above, it is very encouraging. Also, counselor stated it is good to have a board like this so we do not feel alone and isolated and obviously not the only ones who feel the way we do about our jobs.

This job is strongly bothering my family life. Like having to stay home to work when there was no to work during the holiday weekend and so on. Family says this job is abusive for how they treat their employees. Just saying. :)

socialize with other MTs, since we are so isolated. If something positive were going on, we would be talking about that.

We've been "fed" a lot of stuff, but nothing positive.

I've been getting tips and ideas on how to journey back out into the world and have a life again! This is NOT living! This is a form of decaying and cannot be healthy.

Plus, I've read some of the most inspiring posts on here that were very encouraging for those of us who are embracing reality and eager, desperate, or simply considering making a change.

Besides, where else can an isolated MT go to engage with others? There are times when everyone must hit a wall with this "profession" and need to vent a little. Instead of offering a negative comment, why not either don't comment or offer some encouragement?

Who in their right mind names a company "Happy Transcriptions?" In this day and age, all I see is "sad" MTs and, in my opinion, if "Happy Transcriptions" is still happy, they can only be messing even more with us poor "sad" MTs. All I can say is I am so "happy" I am so close to being on my way out of MT! ...

okay, since they fired our old manager and this new person took over, i spend more time out of work than i do working...also, the ONLY reports i get now are over 2 minutes long (in case you didn't know, radiology is paid by report)...i used to be able to bust my butt, but make a decent living...in the past two weeks, my pay has dropped by about 45% due to lack of work and distribution of reports....all since this mangament change...i don't know if she is giving them all to her old team ...

Got a new one, my 4th in a year btw, and the last one I heard from every day, at least 10 times a day with calls, e mails, etc. This one started probably 2 weeks ago, haven't had a call from her to introduce herself, no e mail, no reply to my e mail...nothing. It is either feast or famine I guess. I just hope when it is time for vacay,I hear from her but if I don't, guess she won't miss me when I'm gone ...

If you want to work as an employee, try Patient First in VA. They pay by the line, never run out of work, pay hourly wage if any unforeseen downtime, and type straight dictation. If you can type dictation non-verbatim, this might work for you. Check on CareerBuilder or Monster jobs. I was not able to type non-verbatim, just against my ethics. ...

I have been offered a job as IC/Business Associate. Now that I have looked into the HIPPA ruling this make me nervous as I can now be held liable even with fines up to $25,000 and even stiffer penalties. I barely make it now from payday to payday.
