How do you get samples? - anon

Posted: Dec 08, 2010

How do you go about getting samples of dictations?  There is nothing in the repository and no sample reports by other MTs when I go through Documanage.  These are the worse dictators in the world.  I type a few words, leave a blank, etc.  When I send them to QA (and get docked) they manage to fill in a couple of blanks and that's it.  I have requested samples from my QC and have received no samples or even a response from her.  Who else can I ask?  I believe there are no samples because NO ONE could possibly understand these dictators.  I have been doing transcription for almost 25 years and I am about to burst into tears.

sounds like you're doing as much as you - possibly can

I remember feeling like that before. I figure if I'm having so much trouble then everybody must be as well. I leave a bunch of blanks and don't send it to QA. I don't think they grumble about it because everybody just knows that's a horrible dictator.

There is 1 ER physician that I cannot even understand his name, patient name, or anything else he says. He does not seem to care if you understand or not. I know there are some MTs who can understand him, as they have done his work for years, just like there are some that I can understand some that most cannot for the same reason. You just do what you can and go on.

So what do you do in that case? - anon

Do you send lots of blanks through to the client or do you send to QA and get docked? It was insinuated to me that if there are no samples in the repository, the dictator's reports are not able to be understood. Anybody know?

sounds to me like you have a lazy QC - NJA Queen

It is your QC's job to fill that repository and/or send you samples. They talk to the client on a regular basis anyway and should be able to get samples from the client. However, if your QC is on a power trip like mine she can fill in all the blanks sent to the client anyway and can't understand why anyone needs samples in the first place.

My client profile says you can only leave 3 blanks - and then mandatory to send

to QA and get docked. I think that is so wrong. They shouldn't be able to do that. Either let us send the blanks or don't dock us.
That is not right, and if I were you I'd call your - Kiki1

How to Access Samples - Nono

DocQmanage: When you log onto DQM, add "dep" (no quotes) behind your ATP number. That will take you into a DQM area where you can search the MedQuist database by dictator, account, and the area from which you want to draw a sample, e.g., operative report or clinic (numerous specialities). The first time you use this area of DQM with the dep marker, you must have called customer support to allow access. Hasn't your CCM told you about this or is it reseved for certain MT levels?

I would escalate to your CCM and all above her/him - sm

stating you have requested these reports for the repository and have received no help from the QC. Keep a record of all emails you send regarding requests to back up your complaint.

Samples
Aug 26, 2010

I have been doing some new accounts recently and I have requested some sample reports, which I have not gotten.   Recently on a QA report I was told "be careful - you are missing some things" .   I asked for examples and I was told copies were not made.   Is this normal?  I am new with nationals.  I know I do make mistakes.  But realisitically how can I improve if I am unable to view reports and cannot view my mistakes?  ...

Report Samples
Jan 30, 2010

How difficult is it to input samples in our repository?  What good does it do us when so many docs don't have anything in it to view?  I'm so sick and tired of getting mumbling dictators without any report samples to view.  At least with a sample, you have something to compare the mumbling too that might make it easier to understand.  What else is QATL doing these days besides audits?  Shouldn't that be their responsibility to ensure there are samples ...

New Account And A Lot Of Dictators Don't Have Samples Yet...
Jan 14, 2012

Oh I will be so glad when they get all the hard dictator's samples up.  Some of those ESL ones you can't make out a lot and when you don't have a sample to go by it is very difficult.  They are working steadily on getting more and more up though so I can't complain, but I would have to get the ones who don't have samples up yet tonight.  Nothing to do but leave blanks and send it to QA.  ...
