What's so great about unemployment? Everybody talks like it's so wonderful. It only lasts 3 months and the highest you can qualify for is 330 dollars a week and when it ends then what? What are you all going to do then?

Probably just operating out of India. We all work remotely and still can while the business is run in India. No way can they just shift the rest of the work to India without us here to clean it up.

There are still a lot of clients who have no idea their work is being done in India and are shocked & outraged when they find out. Every now & then, clients will demand an account is brought back from India because they get so disgusted with the quality, start doing some investigation, and discover the reason. And of course there are some who don't care about the quality & only look at the bottom line $$. I seriously doubt they'll ever be able to get rid of all US MTs because of the ones who do still care about quality & HIPAA laws.

and even if they don't, where else can they really go and not be faced with offshoring?

They can choose a smaller company and if MM keeps winning huge bids, why would they care if "some" clients decide to leave? Won't matter much in the big picture.

All MT work will eventually be done offshore anyway, so why delay? It's the nature of the business, the trend, the way to go these days. Cheap, fast, and easy is what they want. Furthermore, the EMR M*Modal can provide eliminating the MT altogether will reign champion in the long haul.

At first they just brought back the doctors who were complaining the most and then they brought back the entire hospital to the US for the US MTs to type. I don't believe what "Judy" posted is true.

If they are closing, why are they still advertising for employees? Seems to me they like the turn around time right now, it is to their benefit. I used to work at a hospital and same thing, they loved that the doctors could dictate and get their reports back within minutes. Does anyone know of any smaller, family-owned transcription agencies? I honestly don't think any of these companies who advertise are a placed you would want to call home. I have been in transcription for many years, have tested for many of these companies and never get a call back. reports that are forwarded. Most of them are apparently computer generated and very hard to read. I always wondered what reports looked like at the customer end --- not very good from what I can tell. I have looked to try and see if the reports are transcribed or some sort of Epic or Dragon speak program. I took a test the other day to apply for an MT job and the doctor loud and clear gave the patient's name. The dictation was a consult. When the doctor mentioned the name of the hospital, I heard a beep, but when then the patient's name was stated I heard it. I hope those are fake dictations that we test on. If that was real information, I do not want to go there for help. ...

I just cannot do this. I lose pay because I read specs and utilize QA trying to do a good job for the client. I sure hope some job offers come through soon.
