Do MMEs grade or just review & correct? - TIA (nm)

Unfortunately, there are still some MMEs who miss the point or don't know what they're doing.

My goal as an MME is to share what I know in hopes that it will help my coworkers pass audits. Commas and hyphens are usually trivial. If I see something that I know will fail the MT/ME on an audit I'll leave feedback about it and reference the rule or where I found it. We are not to grade the error or put points to it. If you get something back that is graded, you were either audited, the MME made a shortcut mistake, or the MME still hasn't learned that we are not to be doing that.

I'm sorry if you're an ILP (international labor partner), then I don't give any feedback. ILPs are on their own during audits.

Can someone explain to me (or point me in the right direction of where to look) how do I know when to use IV versus 4. I'm doing searches but confused as both are coming up. Example - grade II (or 2) patellofemoral chondrosis, grade 4 (or IV) osteochondral defect. My report is not looking uniform and unsure which to use anymore or where to look to make sure I'm correct. So a girl I worked with at a local hospital here now works for MQ, and I found out she is an MME, so I ask her, what exactly is an MME, she says she gets what we send to QA, corrects it, and types. So....basically they are just QA people? But, don't QA people type too? I just don't understand this MME position. Any MMEs here that can tell me what an MME is (and I know it stands for Master Medical Editor, for the smarties)? ...

Just got a request to test for the MME position. I'm tier 3, 99% accuracy, and I've been here for 7 years, but I didn't take the test when they first offered it because I knew that my pay would take a nosedive. I have a feeling they will be getting rid of all the regular MT/MEs shortly and keep only MMEs on board, but if the pay is actually worse, then it may be better to be given the boot. I've been getting a lot of reports from the ILP with "full review" or something similar in the QA note, but the report itself is not flagged for 100% proof. After a couple weeks of doing full review at less pay, I've decided to just delete their request and fill in the blanks. I figure if they want their reports fully reviewed, they can request their manager to put them back on 100% because I'm a bit fed up with wasting my time and money on making these ILPs look prett ...

All of my searching brings up only FIGO staging, never grading. I even checked the FIGO web site. So, when a doctor dictates it as grade, should it be automatically changed to stage? TIA ...

Hi, I have a question that is driving me bonkers trying to figure out. I transcribe radiology, and the following phrase is used frequently: "..... mild to moderate grade...." by one particular doctor.
