Anyone let go or quit that applied for Cobra. If so, how much did it cost, or percentage of what we pay anyway. Thanks in advance

I have 23+ years in MT alone and almost 30 years of work experience.

COBRA is notoriously expensive. The few times I was between jobs and without coverage I looked into COBRA, the high cost almost gave me a heart attack.

It's prohibitively expensive, and in fact I have never, ever known or heard of anyone who could afford it.

Some of the insurance companies now offer a "temporary policy" say for 90 days. I think it is cheaper than Cobra, although somewhat high, and may not cover pre-existings. I think Humana has something like that.

Cobra premiums are calculated at 110% of the total premium. (This is a federal guideline, not the company's fault). Anyway, as an example, say you pay $100/month for coverage and your company pays $100/month for your coverage. Your Cobra cost would be $220/month--the total premium + 10%.

I was wondering if anyone had left Transcend or has any idea how much COBRA is with them. I have an email in to HR already and a meeting with my super later and I may just voluntarily go part time if they do not make me. Does anyone know what the current cost of COBRA is for the highest level of insurance (the "better" one) that Nuance offers is for a single person? He really sounds like he is saying "cobra cast" but cannot locate in Stedman's or online. The VR actually picked it up as Kober cast, but I cannot locate that term either, and it really does sound like "cobra." Anyone come across this one? Thanks in advance. :) ...
