2010 MedQ transcriptionists of the year - wow

Posted: Aug 09, 2010

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Austin, TX, AHDI 2010 Annual
Convention & Expo --MedQuist Inc. (Nasdaq: MEDQ), a leading provider of medical
transcription services, and a leader in technology-enabled clinical
documentation workflow, announced the winners of its 2010 Medical
Transcriptionist of the Year Award on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the AHDI
Annual Convention and Expo in Austin, TX.

As a part of its comprehensive Rewards and Recognition Program, MedQuist, a
platinum sponsor of the AHDI convention, honored its top 10 medical
transcriptionists (MTs) with an all expenses paid trip to the event. These
individuals were chosen to attend the show because they represent the best of
the best of MedQuist's more than 6,000 domestic employees and were honored for
their work ethic, attitude, professionalism, customer focus, integrity, and
commitment to MedQuist's Core Values. Each MT was selected and interviewed by
several members of the MedQuist management team. "MedQuist's commitment to
rewarding their exceptional MTs with registration to the AHDI national
convention couldn't have come at a better time as the U.S. healthcare system
undergoes sweeping reforms and embraces electronic exchange of health
information," states AHDI CEO, Peter Preziosi, PhD, CAE. "MTs joined colleagues
from around the country to learn about healthcare documentation best practices,
trends and issues transforming the profession, and the latest in data capture
and documentation technology tools."

Of the 10 finalists, Tiffany Fulkerson and Kristin Pritchett were chosen by the
Senior Executive Team as MedQuist's 2010 MTs of the Yearand were acknowledged by
MedQuist Chief Operating Officer, Michael Clark, in front of an audience of
their peers during the No Limits Integrity Awards Brunch on Saturday, August 7,
2010.

"Congratulations to the winners. I speak for the entire Senior Executive Team
when I say that we are delighted and proud to have individuals like Tiffany and
Kristin as part of the MedQuist organization. It is obvious that they both take
tremendous pride in their work and consistently demonstrate a strong commitment
to patient care and customer satisfaction," says MedQuist CEO, Peter Masanotti.

As a platinum sponsor of the event, MedQuist continued its mission of supporting
the industry, which includes MTs, managers/supervisors, educators, and
healthcare professionals, and demonstrating thought leadership with cutting-edge
educational sessions for the medical transcription community.

In addition to the activities surrounding the announcement of MedQuist's 2010
MTs of the Year, Vice President of Quality, DeeAnn Logan, participated in a
panel discussion titled QA Best Practices: Collaborative Approach to Quality
Outcomes. During this session, attendees had the opportunity to get a first
glance at the new QA Best Practices document and how the collaborative approach
from many stakeholders has reshaped communication, measurement, reporting, and
continuous improvement processes for healthcare documentation quality.

Mr. Clark also participated in a panel discussion on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
The Sky's the Limit -- Future Roles for the Evolving MTsession explored how the
industry is changing in response to the HITECH Act. Panelists discussed new jobs
and roles in private practice, in MTSO companies, and in hospital settings as
well as provided insight into possible roles of the future, education needed to
perform those roles, and credentialing in this new HIM future.

They probably have to split the winnings!!

10 of 6,000 domestic MT's? - Did not name the other 8?

[ In Reply To ..]
I would be upset if my name was not listed and I was one of the 10.

I thought some won because of an essay. I also remember CCM's had to pick out of their BOB who they felt was great.

My CCM does not know ANYTHING ABOUT ME! I do not think my CCM thinks I exist! No response to my email's or phone calls.

I am so jealous! I wish my CCM liked me! - I am only good enough...

to work whenever they call, every holiday, and change my schedule every time they need coverage on a different day.

I don't think this is anything to do with loyalty to the company... this is only about who the CCM favors!

I think there are many "Best of the Best MTs" on this board who just dont get down on their knees for anyone!

Agree -- If we are still here typing the stuff - anon

left over that nobody else can type, putting out our required lines with 98% accuracy and taking a pay cut every 6 months, I think we all should be MQ MT of the year. Just my opinion.

My CCM told me 99% - mom2huskies

Not that it matters. Pretty soon they will probably require 99.5% accuracy, plus want us to take a pay cut on top of that.

Bet they made them either take PTO or make up the - time they were off. NM

Thats all they get? A trip to a stupid AHDI convention? - Makes me glad I didnt win! nm

I thought there were only about 3000 American - Hmm

MT/ME's working with MQ. This article says 6000. Maybe the other 3000 are all the others suits and support team that WE are supporting.

I just wanted to wish all of us good health, and a happy and prosporus New Year in 2013! I know it's wishful thinking, but Happy New Year to all of you. MT2 ...

It never ceases to amaze me this monolithic company whose primary source of revenue is transcription has no clue in managing their most valuable commodity, the MTs!!!  E-time has proven disasterous in wrangling MTs to keep precise time schedules and produce..and now take away the mainstay of MTing for years..the incentive (which agreed, sucked anyway..).  WE ARE PRODUCTION EMPLOYEES!!!!  WE DO NOT GET PAID HOURLY OR SALARY!!  How do these Hahvad, Wharton School rejects not ge ...

Transcriptionists With ADD.... I Think Im One Of Them!
Feb 10, 2010

make a living being an MT?  In addition to how low our pay has gotten, and the myriad other problems that we all deal with, if you can't focus, do you think that is cutting into your finances as well? I've always had a suspicion that I have ADD.  Was a totally hyper kid.  Daydreamer in school.  High IQ (148), labelled as "gifted" in 1st Grade, yet with each passing year did less and less well in school.  Looked out the window and zoned out more than I paid att ...
