Does anyone know how to obtain a copy of a VA contract between a company and the VA? It is suppose to be public knowledge. Thanks

The VA has to make public any bids it puts out to contract. I am not sure the same applies to the specifics of the actual signed contract.

you can ask the VA contracting officer you would have sent your fingerprints to. Freedom of information act (FIOA) will get you a copy, just make sure you fill out the request in detail and accurately. Good luck. Keep us posted on VA contractors not "paying" by the rules--they need to be stopped like K&R!

I was searching the other day and I believe I Googled Vickie Jones, somewhere out in Modesto, California, and came up a few pages deeper with I think a Vickie Jones company, who works with the City, and she was advertising a job opening on MT Stars too, so that's why I searched her. I found the contract of 12 cpl, 15,000 lines per year I believe. May not be perfect, but it is a city document.

What do city documents have to do with the VA? - Confused

We've been given a cutoff date unofficially. MModal will be snail-mailing contracts to us, with 2 weeks to decide whether to join MModal or not. If we choose not to work for MModal, can that be used against us when we file for unemployment? Does unemployment know MModal's reputation for underpaying and overworking its transcriptionists? I have been working for five years as an MT and I was just content with what I had but I won't be getting a raise anytime soon (haven't for the past 5 years) and I know that I would be making more independently. I have contacted Kerry Bentivolio, Congressman for my district, several times regarding the latest taxpayer travesty. Contracts for medical transcription work at the VA Hospitals are now being awarded to an Indian company, IMedx. Financial support for these hospitals is being provided by taxpayers, and those jobs and contracts should be awarded to AMERICANS. Do most ICs who sign contracts requiring 30-day notice adhere to that? I cannot see myself working two full-time jobs, as I oftentimes have trouble meeting minimum line count requirements at the current job because changes seem to come along about every 90 days or so, just when I am getting used to things and am finally able to consistently make the line count. I guess I fear that if I tell the new job I cannot start for 30 days (or even two weeks for that matter) they will not hold ...

I currently work for a company with a VA contract and am getting paid pennies and I thought I read on here awhile ago there is a way to go and look up the contracts and see what they actually bid it for. I tried looking in the archives but couldn't find anything in reference on how to do this. Can somebody please tell me how to do this or point me in the right direction. ...

My company was audited by the DoL. Now being paid the prevailing wage, paid by the hour, made a lot more paid by the line... Afraid to ask company how the hourly is determined, why it changes paycheck to paycheck, why it doesn't match the facilities' counties wage determination (it's VERY much less). Curious to hear from others who are working on VA contracts, anyone else affected? ...

IF they have any contracts, we will be due the new federal minimum wage of 10.10 per hour when that goes into effect. Sadly, I think it is more likely that Nuance will shuck those contracts, if they have them, to avoid this. Anyone know anything about Nuance and VA contracts? ...

If you work for a transcription company on a VA hospital contract, you should be paid a minimum hourly wage as well as receive benefits per the Service Contract Act. You may be even be eligible for back pay if you have not been paid correctly.
