Hello, Smart People-
Has anyone ever been asked to take a personality assessment when you're in the running for a job position? I applied for a patient sitter position at a local hospital and they said I was in the running and would I please take an assessment. It was a personality assessment (I could just tell), but I don't think it was the MMPI--the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Index. There weren't enough questions for that one.
FYI: The job description for which I'm in the running for is to watch over someone who is suicidal, agitated, etc., to keep them safe. I would be under the supervision of an R.N., which I'm sure if I'm offered the job, I'd have training on how to handle situations.
The assessment was in 2 parts, both with 18 "short statements." I had to give a positive (+) or negative (-) for each statement, depending on how the statement made me feel. Then, for each statement, I had to rank how it made me feel--#1 for strongly positive, #18 for strongly negative, basically.
The statements ranged from "a baby" to "new car" to "global nuclear war." So, for example, I put a (-) for the war with an 18 as to the strength, and a (+) for the baby with a 1.
The whole thing seemed cut and dried, but abstract at the same time, so I have no clue as to how I came across.
I was all over the Internet trying to see which test this was and how I'm going to be "judged" for the job, but couldn't really come up with anything concrete.
Has anybody ever taken an assessment like that, or given a prospective hire a test like that?
