Neurology? - NervousMT

Posted: Oct 05, 2010

I'm about to start transcribing a neurology clinic.  Any comments on neurology transcription?  Thanks!

Just to not bother being nervous, MT. :) It's really just - Poppy

more of the same. Since you'll be doing specialists, there will be a lot of new terminology at first, but that's great. Take notes, stuff all those new terms in your expander the first time they're encountered, and in very short order you'll be better at this specialty than most.

Neurology clinic - RLee

I worked in a neurology office for 17 plus years. It was an office that consisted of 9 neurologists. Neurology is a "broad" speciality. Each one of the docs I worked for had their own "special" interest and broader knowledge in a specific field of neurology some of which included multiple sclerosis, headaches, carpal tunnel, back problems, sleep problems, EEGs and/or EMGs. Once you get to know the terminology for neurology like any other speciality it will become easier and easier. It is an interesting field, as it is so broad. From my own experience - I am confident that you will do just fine and enjoy it very much. Good luck and I presume the nervousness comes from the anxiety of starting a new job.

I have done neurology for 20 years - Love it.

It does take time to learn any new specialty. Many people are afraid of neurology, but actually it is quite easy after a time. You will find that you will be using the same terms over and over especially when it comes to migraines, multiple sclerosis, strokes, sleep disorders, and neuropathy. When you make notes, you will definitely be using them again. I am on a neurology account now that I will be losing to VR, so I have to divide my day between accounts, but I wish I could type neurology all day every day. I have always gotten 1800-2000 lines a day because things are so repetitive. It seems there are many ESLs in the specialty, but you will do fine. Good luck.

Since When Is Neurology Service Capitalized?
Mar 03, 2014

Years back, the name of the service was to be capitalized if they said the patient was seen by Podiatry or the patient was seen by Neurology.  But if the patient was seen by the neurology service, it was not capitalized.  Why am I being counted off for not capitalizing Neurology Service?  It just looks stupid with it capitalized.  I feel like I'm dealing with people who don't really know what they are doing.  Very frustrating.  ...
