I'm so disgusted! (sm) - Midwest MT

I'm so disgusted I almost can't stand it. I have a small midwest transcription business and I live paycheck to paycheck like the rest of you do, struggling to pay my bills in this economy and pay my subcontractors a fair wage at the same time. I've gotten a few emails from a Mike Jones from Cat Technologies lately (as well as a linked-in request) informing me that they offer MT services at 5 cents per line for a 65 character line, 12-24 hr TAT with outsourcing to India. I usually ignore him but today decided to shoot him back a nasty gram saying this: âAs a small US-based transcription service, I take high offense to any company that outsources to India or any other foreign country and so deeply undercuts the rates of those of us in the MT field that refuse to allow our medical records outside our country and outside HIPAA jurisdiction. I will thank you not to contact me again as I find it is companies such as yours that make it next to impossible for hardworking US transcriptionists to earn a living in this economy.â I know it wonât do anything and it wonât solve the problems weâre facing trying to earn a living in this business but at least I feel better for telling him to basically piss off. Just wanted to vent. Thanks!

You should all not only sign it but then go to facebook and myspace and your email and linkedIn and get it out to everyone you know.

[ In Reply To ..]I just read an ad and was actually dumbfounded that they wanted "meticulous" people but the advertisement was so grammatically incorrect I was embarrassed by reading it!! Certainly doesn't leave any good impression on themselves.

I have spent days and days doing testing for several companies and either get ignored or some saying my scores were not high enough or they are not hiring after all. This is really such a waste of time. lThen after telling you they are no longer hiring, you see them advertising again the next day. So, what is going on??? I am sure it is not just me having this kind of experience. I have loads of experience -- 30 years and have done everything under the sun -- Radiio ...
