Crystal-clear doctor having to spell everything out. - cr

I had the very pleasant experience of getting a crystal-clear American doctor speaking perfect English, but he was spelling many ordinary words and medications, which tells me he's probably been having some bad reports coming back. He didn't sound like a newbie resident, who do tend to spell a lot of things. It makes me wonder just how bad some of the reports are if this very clear-speaking doctor is having a problem.

How bad? So bad as to be bizarre. Some of it does not even look like English. Utterly nonmedical phrases composed of completely unrelated and nonsensical words. The medical part is even worse.

Our contract prohibits offshoring, so this is being done by American "MTs". There are a variety of initials on them with varying degrees of awfulness, so I do not think it is VR.

Another thing you have to consider is that doctors now see quite a lot of VR that other doctors have done using Dragon or just by typing themselves into an EHR. Point and click can produce stuff that is all over the page--the computer people who program them cannot spell and have no idea of formatting. These reports are a mess at best and unreadable at worst. However, most physicians think this was done by MTs.

I think that VR and allowing doctors to type it themselves are nails in the MT coffin. When the perception is that this is the quality of work being produced by MTs who wants to pay for it?

doctors that do this. I think they are doing it as a respectful thing, just as they are trying to be clear. They also add all of their commas, etc. It kind of drives me crazy. I don't know if they have had bad transcription in the past or not, but I have worked on the account for about 4 years, and they have always done it. They are not my favorites, though. I like some of the faster speakers, not as boring.

I get tired of reading that hospitals only want CCS credentials. That completely depends on the hospital. What should be said is INPATIENT coding is CCS and OUTPATIENT is CPC. If you want to be paid for any work you do I would not advise working for this company. I have not been paid for "phase I" of the transcribing we were supposed to do which was supposed to be paid last week, evidently there are others according to the main board.
