Has anyone completed the post-baccalaureate certificate in Health Information Adminstration with the University of Toledo? I've been looking at it for a while now and would appreciate opinions from current or former students. Thanks!

Just wondering why you feel it is "expensive." And, expensive compared to what?

Instead of putting the burden on others to do the research for you, why not try looking it up and sharing what you found?

My experience at UT - RHIA

I did the CHIA at UT. I think it is a great program.

If you already have a bachelor's, you definitely want to do an RHIA program, not an RHIT. You want to avoid spending years going full-time to do it, and you want to avoid the kind of tuition that for-profits charge.

The UT program is fully online. I did it in about a year, and had no trouble doing it full time while working, although youmight prefer to spread it out over another semester. I thought it was fine--I had no difficulty with the RHIA exam. All RHIA programs teach the same thing, so the content will be very similar.

They do give online students a waiver or credit to cover the difference between in-state and out of state tuition, so your cost will be at the in-state rate. I think it is worth it, since the jobs you will qualify for will pay enough to cover it very quickly. The job market is exceptionally good for RHIAs.

Personally, with your bachelor's already, I would not do anything else. I would not ponder it any longer, either. You can get enrolled for January. If you need prerequisites, take them online in the fall at a community college.

I have never met an RHIA who regretted it, although there must be some. I have met a lot of RHITs, nurses, teachers, and lawyers who regretted their choice, however.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I am really leaning heavily towards this program. It just makes a lot of sense to me. I already work full-time for a hospital which will pay a small portion of my tuition, but as you pointed out, the opportunities that an RHIA would open up will more than pay for the cost of the program.

My husband is close to finishing the MT program at Kaplan University. He will end up is AS Degree - is this a good program? Does he have any chance of getting a job? This degree cost 10 times as much at the course from CareerStep. I sure hope we didn't waste ALOT of money for nothing. ...

I was just wondering what the difference was between the degrees that are offered at Kaplan and Andrews and if anyone on the forum has graduated from Kaplan or is in their program and what they thought of the program and if they were abled to get hired right away or not. ...

Can anyone tell me if Precyse still has Precyse University for training. I went to work for them a few years ago and quit because I was only doing 1-2 hours a day for a couple weeks going through the University and waiting for things to be approved in order to move on and was not making any money, got fed up and quit.
