How do I find a testing site for the CCS? - sm - Potential coder

I cannot figure out how to find local testing sites (to me) for the CCS examination. I see on the AHIMA website where you "buy" the test?? I am confused. I wanted to look ahead and see how far away from me a potential site is for testing but don't know how to locate any. Thanks for any help.

Does anyone know anything about the Gatlin Education program - ed2go? It is a self-paced program for the CCS.

Click the tab at the top that says "CERTIFICATION." It has a list of them with all the information you need.

It says that you will need to schedule your test with Pearson Vue. Find Pearson Vue by googling it, go there, and look for a test center. There is a search form where you can enter your location. It's easy enough to do--there are locations all over.

I have to say, though, that even if the only testing center was in Nome, Alaska, you would need to go there. That's how important certification is. It used to be that professional exams were only held in certain large cities once a year. We're very lucky to have them at local testing centers now. There is probably one near you and if there isn't, pack a bag.

I've work on an account that 80% of the doctors dictate many abbreviations/acronyms that I have never heard of (I've been transcribing for 16 years). Some of them are very hard to find. Googling gives sites for acronyms, but mostly that is not helpful. A lot of them are not found in the Stedman's Abbreviations book or that particular field book. A long time ago before my computer crashed I used to have a website I went to often if I could only make out a few letters in a medication and if those were in the middle of the drug.
