grrr - mad girl

Posted: Jun 08, 2010

I AM SO MAD AT THEM. I retested with them today and they had the nerve to tell me that I did not have the minimum requirements for them. I thought I had a passing grade, wish I knew what their passing grade is? Any body know? If they do not want my services, then I should not offer them.

How are we to even know who you're talking about? - Making no sense NM

Do you mean that you applied for a job and didn't get it? - Trying to understand

[ In Reply To ..]
Most people apply for many, many jobs before they get one, in any field, not just MT. It isn't unusual to hear that you don't meet the requirements for a particular job. Don't feel bad about it. Just keep applying, until someone actually comes out and says that you test badly because your skills are poor. Then you would want to do something about it, of course.

thanks. It is just so stinking hard to try and get into a company. I HATE HAVING TO TEST ALL OF THE TIME!

Wait 'till you actually have a job. Jobs come with stress and deadlines and supervisors - I think you are in for a shock

[ In Reply To ..]
I think you're in for a real shock if you think the tests are bad. It is so easy to test for employers these days. We used to have to spend hours getting to appointments and face-to-face interviews, then testing, then they would tell us they would get back to us in a few weeks. That was much harder than it is now where we punch a few keys on our computer and we've applied for a job.
If you've ever had a job before you already know that - Did not mean to be sarcastic

Can you tell me where the jobs are - Needing ToBeEnlightened

where you can punch a few keys and apply? I'm so out of it. Like madgirl, I've obviously been applying to all the wrong places. I've always had to jump through so many hoops I feel like a trained seal!!! And that's even before I could find out how much they pay. I'd really like to know. I'm desperate. Thanks in advance.
The 'hoops' as you call them are nothing compared to spending weeks burning pavement looki - Internet job hunts are sweatless
[ In Reply To ..]
Sure you may be expected to test just like we used to in person, but you don't have to drive there and sit in a waiting room full of nervous people and then experience a 'stress' interview with questions fired at you. This is so much more pleasant.
"Fruitless" might be a better word. - n/msg

Well, I guess it really is a matter of opinion - Needing ToBeEnlightened

isn't it? And it depends on what type of experiences you've had. Frankly, I've spent so much time looking for my ideal medical transcription job (you know, the one they promise you at all the Transcription Schools or the one that all the transcription services promise you, the one where you can make tens of thousands of dollars typing for doctors at home?) that I haven't been "burning pavement" for quite some time. It just might be a welcome change. So why don't you give us all a break and tell us where those jobs are where you can hit a few keys and apply?
The companies contact schools when they have openings for new or experienced MTs - See message
[ In Reply To ..]
The employers have networks of people they call when they need either experienced MTs or new ones. They don't like to advertise because they get hundreds of applications from people who either have very poor training or no training at all. They may want someone with 3 years of experience or more, but they still want it to be a graduate of whatever school they prefer. When they have accounts that the better brand new graduates can handle, they do the same thing. So even if you graduated from a school 15 years ago, you can probably still get on their message boards and access the job openings.
That does make it easy, but what about the rest of us? - No Help From My School
[ In Reply To ..]
What do you suggest for the rest of us if our school can't or won't help?
The 'rest of us' have this board and have to prove our skills by testing - No Problem if you have the skills
[ In Reply To ..]
It's really no problem if you have good skills, motivation, and a computer keyboard. Just start applying. Apply everywhere. Take every test available to you, even the ones that take 4 hours. Many years ago someone started a saying about how people looking for a job should make looking for a job their job. If you are willing and able to do that and you have the right skills, you'll do well...if you want to do well. I'm convinced that there are some who wouldn't take a good job if it was offered to them on a silver platter. Just my opinion.
That doesn't make much sense, does it? - SeeAbove
[ In Reply To ..]
Why in your opinion wouldn't anybody take a good job? Besides, what protection does one have when they've taken every test available as you suggest and then take a "good job" based on what some recruiter tells them, and then find out they've been duped once again? I know there is no such thing as a sure thing, but the frauds certainly seem to be pretty consistent in the world of medical transcription. Of course, if your ox is being gored, you're always going to paint a rosy picture of things, don't you think?
Personally, I'm not quite as cynical as some posters - Lots of different experiences out there
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think everyone is having these horrible situations, but some are. That isn't even new. It was always that way. Now we have the internet, so we hear about the people who have the bad experiences and those who are doing well just quietly keep doing their work. That's what I'm seeing.
Just out of curiosity, - SeeAbove

Didn't you say at the beginning of this conversation that all we had to do nowadays was hit a few keys on a keyboard and apply for jobs? Now you are saying test and test and test to apply? I mean, which is it? We're still waiting for you to tell us where those jobs are that you can apply for with just a few keystrokes. If I'm mistaken and you're not the same person as the one above, though, sorry in advance.
Sounds like a little too much work for you to apply for those jobs - BR
[ In Reply To ..]
Sounds like you aren't really up for putting any energy into finding a job. I didn't see any inconsistency in those two posts. It still takes so much less effort these days to apply and test online than it used to back when we had to spend hours in employment offices/HR departments, then waiting for someone to allow us to come in for an interview, then another drive in for the interview, then another wait until they call us back for a second interview if we're lucky, then another wait while they make their final decision. Really! I'm appalled by the fact that people don't really have much desire to work these days. I don't want to overstate that. Some still do have good work ethics, but so many don't. That's what I'm observing here in what I've been reading.
That sounds just plain lazy! - You do have to put in a little bit of effort to ge

Patient has 2 children. Further on down, C-section is dictated in the medical history, and MM ASR output is 2 C-sections! What the heck. 2 was not dictated! I actually got a nice long straight typing job, and my hands stopped hurting. ...
