tell me, besides just the satisfaction of doing a good job, what will you ever get for your loyalty and hard work for a company? See, it used to be in corporations, the people who did above and beyond their expected work got bonuses, raises, promotions, etc. Tell me what you will get for your excellent work ethic except more of the same with no hope of anything else. It is virtually just a slap on the back and an "atta boy." Not only that, but they will then expect more of you at the same compensation. An employer/employee relationship is a "business contract" for a certain amount of compensation for a certain amount of work. It is not a feel -good, one-sided sacraficial, touchy/feely, anything-at-anytime type of relationship. They will put a guilt trip on you, though, by getting you to think it is for the "good of the all" or "team effort." Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping out when need is there for the good of the company and fellow MTs, but this ongoing, year after year, expecting more, more, more, for the same or less compensation is just plain exploitive. Words are cheap; I want compensation. That's what our contract agreed to. (rant done)
