Hmmm - I do not even know what my hours are - according to the MSL web site I am listed as having the same schedule as always, but since I lost my insurance due to "reduction of hours", I wonder what my schedule is expected to be now - seeing as though this was NEVER discussed with me or was I ever formally informed from Transcend my hours were decreasing. I am curious as to if they expect me to still make myself available for my 40-hour work week and get NO JOBS or very limited jobs. Has anyone else lost their insurance benefits due to no work availability, and if so, was you ever formally informed of change in hours, etc ?? It does not make any sense to chase work for an 8-hour day with no benefits or any inclination as to if the situation is only temporary, etc.

And when that happens, I am not going to avail myself to them for my "scheduled" hours. If they can't make work available during the hours THEY scheduled me for, why should I keep obliging them?
Did you take the job with Angel? I can't remember the name of the service she owns.

[ In Reply To ..]Yes - I had my phone interview, the final process of the hiring interview, but I am just waiting for her to acquire more accounts within the next few weeks. Her business is called Angel's Transcription Management. I do not know if at the moment, where my hours were "reduced", if I am obligated by law to adhere to my schedule. I guess that is a question for the Dept of Labor - maybe.

Angel's Transcription is just starting up a NEW business and has new accounts coming - oh, but you will probably say that is what they all say - at least she was upfront and HONEST by not having me make myself available until she did get the accounts and knew she would have enough work for me, as to not have me sitting there without any work for hours on end and waiting for jobs that were never going to appear; otherwise I would be in the same boat as I am now.

They expect us to work the hours they gave us and if there is no work I will be darned if I will make myself available 24/7 in the hopes of finding work. They take away benefits and effectively say we are part time, then part-time hours is what they will get from me.

I could not afford to not get my FT paycheck for even one week, and it has never happened to me in 25 years - unless it was my own doing in scheduling or choice or time off on purpose.
I simply do not get it, who can sit around waiting until their bills are unpaid and risk foreclosure! I would have no choice but to go to ANY place, retail, Kohl's, whatever it takes, to pay my bills. Not working in any way shape or form is not an option, so how come it is for you?

I wish you good luck, but I don't know how you stay here when you aren't making any money because the work is not there, and now your insurance is gone...I'd be looking elsewhere if they aren't communicating with you.

Believe me lately I have been spending more time on this computer searching, testing, and applying for jobs more than I have been typing at my actual job. I do have something lined up in a few weeks. I know there are so many on here who are fed up with Medquist. But, can anyone tell me if there is any shift or days that work is usually available? Overnight shift? Evenings? I have 2 friends who work for MQ and they are not out of jobs when they work. (well, that's what they tell me). They said it actually just depends on the account. Ok, I'm not as fast as I used to be and the doctors keep giving names of physicians that are not on their list and are spelled different ways so I take the time to look them up because blanks are not a thing I like to leave on a report. Today we get an email that we can no longer work off the clock which for me is a problem. Do you take the time to look things up like that or what do you do to get past the OCD of trying not to leave a blank? I feel like MQ is chasing ...

I noticed when I took a day off without pay, at the end of the pay period, the PTO earned shown in UltriPro was only 4.14 hours instead of 4.62. Does anyone work 12 or 16 hours/week? I see in the policies there are such hours that can be worked. I am wondering how to go about switching. I always thought that you could carry over PTO under 40 hours into the new year but someone was telling me today that they did away with that policy or are doing away with that policy and that you will loose everything now and start fresh with PTO....
