There has been discussion about them recently. I don't recall exactly what but it was negative.

Please check the archives for them! - nn

It is basically typing multiple speakers at once. Work is assigned to you at approximately 5 p.m. EST and you have until 2 p.m. the following day to get the work completed. If you don't, you are "locked out of the system" and would not get paid for any work you completed. They use an extremely complicated spreadsheet system and you have to tell them how many minutes a day of work you want, bearing in mind again, that you will not receive the work until 5 p.m. EST and you have until 2 p.m. EST the following day to get it completed. Hence, you are basically working at night. They utilize a spreadsheet system, which is extremely large and very hard to follow. If you feel that you would be comfortable handling multiple speakers, then it may work for you. I lasted a week when a better opportunity came around for me.

Thanks for the info. It was a different approach to transcribing, that is why I was so curious. It sounds okay, other than the spreadsheet....I can handle multiple speakers.

Tried it and disliked... - Opinion

The people seemed nice enough, but their spreadsheet job assigner was horrible and very, very confusing, overly complex, and just overwhelming. I had to try and learn their style sheet, which wasn't too bad. I had one note for 30 minutes with multiple speakers, several with accents. It took me four hours to transcribe as I was busy researching many terms for this particular assignment, including location and product names, plus replaying and replaying some of the cross talk and trying to get who was say what. It was also a subject area I know little about, and I was provided nothing to give me background (even who this company was, which would have helped). I was paid just under $7.00. I kid you not. That means I made less than $2/hour. I resigned at that point. There must be something better out there than that!

Number Sign And Listing In ASR
Jan 28, 2010

In ASR I was told that when there is a list (docs usually say "next number"...) and the machine puts the # sign, that the "system would automatically make a numerical list, converting the # sign to an actual number".: #.... #.... #... One one report I had a report that had #, about three or four of them and I sent it through.  I got negative feedback, because I had left the # in and didn't type out the number.  Yet on others, nothing ever came back!  Which is correct? & ...
