do OP notes. I hate 'em and for 2 days that's about all I've gotten. So, I would love to find a company that does not require OP note transcription. TIA.

OP reports, DS summaries, H&P, radiology, pathology--transcribe any and all work types and specialties and it will pay off. Close to guaranteed job security. Companies will seek YOU out! ;)
have to agree with that - 7DayMT

You can get some acute care jobs without ops, but more opportunities if you do can do ops. What's more, they can be good money - lots of repetitive text. Even with VR they can go quicker.
You can do clinic work with no ops, of course. I like to always have at least 1 acute care job because otherwise I would not have enough work on weekends (not that everyone wants this) and would starve during holiday periods (which are slow anyway).
I understand that the opportunities are better if - wannie

you are willing to do OPs. However, I do not like them, they slow me down. The OP notes I am doing are from a large teaching hospital so rarely do I get the same dictator doing the same kind of operation twice, so chance to make normals. I just would like to find a company where I wouldn't have to do OPS.
I don't know why you don't just talk to your supe...sm - Ole MT

to find a solution to your problem, maybe mixing WTs in your pool. Doubt you are going to find ANY company these days that doesn't require you to do all WT but good luck with that!
and offer you 3 cpl for VR editing...while they are - running all the way to the bank
And this IS CORRECT. Yes, they want those who can do it all because sm - .

they will have a skilled MT and then pay NOTHING for the skill. You will get the worst dictators because of your experience while other with less skill get have the better reports or narrowed down speciality and narrowed down number of different dictators, accommodate that particular MT. Oh Yes, Oh yes.
Have you thought about clinic work? sm - iheartgarycooper

Not a OP person also. There are a lot of companies in search of a good multispecialty transcriber.
On the job hunt myself and had an offer the first day of hunting. I'm being very particular. I want/need stability in a company, even the smaller ones. I also agree that the more you're willing to learn, the more options you'll have in the future. Keep on digging and always check the boards for ones to stay away from.

I sure wish I could find an account with OP notes. I am so bored doing clinic notes. I guess the grass is always greener.
To OP notes: If you can do those well, you will - always have a job.

Companies go looking for those who can do OP notes. Don't worry about finding employment.
OP notes - Looking for OP notes

Please, tell me who is looking. I look here every day, but it seems like it is almost all clinic notes. I have done acute care for 17 years, but got switched to a clinic account due to technical difficulties with the account I was on. I have been stuck there ever since. Believe me, I have my eyes open for acute care/OP notes. If anyone sees anything, PLEASE let me know. I would be very grateful. Thanks!!
I have 9 years' experience and can do about 150-180 lines an hour, but I hate having the feeling of I need to get to the particular quota and rushing myself along. I want to do a quality report and would rather work for a company who represents that. Anyone know of any companies out there like this? TIA. ...
Big company or small, full or part-time, good or mediocre pay, are there ANY companies who do not require a schedule for an IC? I have searched and searched...to no avail. Thanks for any tips if you know of a company who fits this description! ...
Are there any companies out there who let you just do your work and do not require you to give them a time or if you leave your computer that they constantly harrass you? ...
I got a call today from HR at Sten-Tel (Springfield) saying that they were getting ready to make me an offer. (Would consider taking it on only in addition to what I'm already doing due to hearing issues about lack of work.)
I was, however, told that having Internet Explorer 8.0 was a problem and that I would need to uninstall this version and downgrade to IE 7.0. I've never heard of this before and was wondering why the newer, more current version of IE would be a problem ...
us to download software that allows them full-time access to our personal computers, allows them to upload our info, track our history, etc.? If it has nothing to do with our daily MT work, then is it even legal to require us to install their spyware permanently on our own personal property?? I've never heard of a company doing this. ...
I'm curious, as this year my line requirement went way up and I was told what is required is "competitive" with what other companies require. I don't believe it is, and I work constantly to meet it. I wonder if this forum will let this message stay up--seems like anything that smacks of transcriptionists working together for anything like rights gets taken down, but... ...
"A recent report by the McKinsey Global Institute found that while low-skill jobs are on the decline, by 2020 employers around the globe will need an estimated 45 million more mid-level workers who have a high school education and vocational training.
Meanwhile, a highly citedstudy by the Harvard Graduate School of Education last year concluded that in the U.S. “we place far too much emphasis on a single pathway to success: attending and graduating from a four-year college ...
to buy books with or without answers? Mine requires books w/o answers, which I find odd since there isn't an answer key posted or anything to find out if you've got the right answer. Pretty weird in my opinion. ...
Hi, I was wondering if any of you could tell me about Alpha Transcription. Do they require set hours? Do they pay decent? How is their communication? Do they have PTO?
Thanks! ...
I have a friend that worked at MD-IT prior to the Command Health buyout. She is still with the MD-IT division (or whatever they call it now), is employee status but is able to work whenever she wants as long as she meets line requirement and doesn't go over 40 hours a week. Is this the way it is across the board for Command Health? I thought I needed an IC job for flexibility, but if I could have that flexibility as an employee that would be great.
Thanks for the info. ...
New to Nuance, swallowed up when they acquired my employer at the end of 2013. I see they really expect you to spend a lot of time doing things outside your schedule, training, reading manuals, etc. Other than a flat rate for installing and learning software (20 minutes, actually took twice that), they don't offer to pay for all this extra time. Seems excessive. Has anyone tracked this extra time and filed a complaint with DOL about it? Or tried to clock into W ...
I know I learn something every day in this business, but I've never heard of this. She's very, very clear, but I'd like to know for sure before I QA. Thanks!

Before all the Debbie Downers and Eeyores come out of the woodwork, let me preface these 2 ideas with: These will not appeal -- or even be possible due to family commitments -- to all. BUT they will be viable solutions for some. Both are in the medical field and do not require extensive training.
1. EKG monitor tech. Requires just 8-10 weeks of training. A quick check of pay for my region shows $17.65-$25.53 per hour, which is in keeping with what my em ...
Okay, i have a doc that is dicating pretty much an H&P but account specifics require SOAP format for all dicators. Would most everything go under subjective heading such as social history, family history, no known allergies, etc.? I know PE will go under objective, but would the ROS go under objective as well or subjective?
Thanks! ...
I'm always over 200 until I get Mr. Mumblemouth who knows he is not forming actual words when he hums through the PE, as my counts plummet to as loiw as 75 LPH. Then I get a long report from an excellent fast-talking dictator and my LPH jumps to 340.
Question: Why is it that the MTSO does not comprehend the fact that our production depends on the capability of the provider to dictate correctly? The horrid dictators are never told they are doing anything wrong as ...
I see many warnings about bogus companies but I need help to steer me to a good company or at least a company that is fair, hiring and gives a fair entrance test. any ideas? ...
Can anyone answer me why is it that these MT companies hire you and they all promise you the sun, moon and stars. Oh we have TONS of work. We guarantee you at least 11 accounts and 2,500 lines a day. Then you are sitting there 6 months later, waiting for jobs? I have experienced this many times. Can it be that its just bad management and they overhire? Does anyone know of a company that really does have TONS of work? I know this is the slow time of year, but many times its happened at othe ...
pay us hourly anymore anyway make us punch an electronic time clock? What's wrong with sending simple timesheets like we did for years?
