All the MTSO's are in such fierce competition that now the only thing they have left to compete with is accuracy, TAT and being cheap. So they over hire as a business plan to keep everyone fighting for work, checking, checking and those H&Ps and consults get done in half the time it would take inside the hospital with hourly wages and benefits and hope for a good life. MT isn't even a real job anymore. Its a part-time job for that extra money you need. No one could live like this. I suspect it will stop as people retire and they can't find enough MTs to do the work. If there is any work by then.
