when putting time off in workforce, I have a question...sm - sm

Fairly new to the company and have a question.......When requesting time off in workforce, do you account for your 30 minute meal break? Like do you add 2 different requests so you don't short yourself on total time for the day. say I work 10 to 4:30 with a 30 minute mealbreak. Do you put in workforce 2 different times? like 10 to 12 and then 12:30 to 4:30 to account for mealbreak? Seems like my hours would be short or would be wasting 30 minutes that I could use later by just putting in 10 to 4:30 when 30 minutes is for lunch. I know I am confusing you as I'm confusing myself. LOL
