If the dictators start calling the client by a different name, it's probably a good idea to look into why the name changed. It could be that the client was bought up.

If the client was bought up, it's the norm for the buyer to eventually impose their systems/vendors on what they've bought. Something about "economy of scale", I believe. If your friend had looked into the name change, it wouldn't have been a surprise to your friend that this client was probably on the way out.

In addition, client may not have been exactly forthcoming about their plans to your friend's employer. MTs with long years of experience know that clients pull the plug early if the new vendor/system is ready to go. MTs with long years of experience know that clients may be less than truthful about now much work will be left. Ask just about anyone whose client went to Epic or some other EMR and was told there would still be work.
