I've been in that situation many times in the past couple of years (as well as ancient history before MT:) I've recently been doing well moving through the decision-making process for a couple of decent jobs and am not shy about telling it like it is. In your situation I might say, "At-home medical transcription is not very conducive to decision making, so here is a much better example --" and of course pick one that comes from the heart. The questions may be canned, but our responses don't have to be. A good HR person is much more interested in who you really are than whether you can provide a standard response. In fact, does not a little confidence in thinking outside the box prove your ability to think on your feet? Good luck!!!
