the voice file includes the entire evaluation and dialogue with the patient, not just the MD dictating his findings. We previously worked in real time via conference call during the exam, but started recording voice files for more flexibility. These have to be turned into medical-legal workers' comp reports. There's also a lot of editing required to translate the layperson language the MD uses with the patient into more formal report language. This is why he pays by the hours vs. line, character or page with regular transcription.
