Sometimes they cross out blanks to try to make it easier to possibly hear and see the blank. Also, sometimes the text is just plain messed up, and it has nothing to do with the QA marker. They also end up fixing other unmarked text because Fluency is so good (not), that it messes up the text, i.e. spacing, paragraphing, etc.
