Production cattails - so old and tired. :(

I have been on the cattails now for several weeks and I think I am just plain retarded, but how in the heck to we count minutes when there are only 60 seconds in a minute? I know it is probably something simple. If you have 1.28 minutes and then 3.14 minutes, how do we count them accurately? Thank you for anyone's help. I feel silly. I just would like to be able to calculate a little bit of what production I am doing per day. Have a Merry Christmas to all. :)
