Frustrated with EMR "errors" - tmt Posted: Nov 29th, 2018 - 9:24 am
After 26 years as a transcriptionist, I am now considered a scribe, inputting dictation into client EMRs. In the course of my day, I sometimes need to pull up the hospital summaries that were scanned in or downloaded directly from the hospitals for med lists, past history, etc. I just can't believe the rules of medical documentation that we as MTs were taught and had to live by that are now thrown out the window within these reports. Correct capitalization, the use of dangerous abbreviations, and punctuation are merely suggestions now. So, I just sit here, keep my mouth shut, and try not to cringe until I can one day retire or die at my computer, whichever comes first.
