As others have stated above, read everything carefully and opt out of them keeping your sample on file, no matter how they say how useful it will be or how closely they will protect it. Stuff happens, and if it does, you are out of luck.

I also did not participate in the medical history/DNA portion. I am a cancer survivor with an extremely positive family history of cancer. Who is to say that somewhere down the road that this information could be used against you as far as insurability? I was not wiling to take that chance.

I will say though, that it was a lot of fun. We had been told forever that we were 100% German, as our ancestors came from Northern Germany. That was not at all what we found out. Only 65% German, with the rest Scandinavia, Poland and even England. Did not expect any of that. It maybe would explain my fascination with the British Isles.
