Usually you have to be in training to receive the benefits. However, if you are within 2 years of retirement age or already on retirement, you can have this waived and will receive more weeks. I just went through this. My unemployment ended, but through TAA I will receive 32 extra weeks. Mine hasn't started yet, not until 10/1, so I'm hoping everything will go smoothly.
