I've noticed there are a lot of coders out there who are very touchy when questions are posed about the future of coding, particularly when those questions are posed by transcriptionists. For some reason, some of those coders think that transcriptionist believe that transcription and coding are the same thing. Transcriptionists know that coding and transcription are two completely different occupations. They are both equally important occupations. However, they have one thing in common and that is advances in technology changing the landscape of both industries. Coding not so much...yet. Transcription has been forever changed by technology created by these software companies, as well as shipping work overseas. Coding is also being sent overseas. There are no guarantees with any industry. It makes sense to ask questions about your industry and it is a smart, proactive thing to do. People that get bent out of shape when you do ask those questions makes no sense at all.
