devising this plan of placing us on "release" so they can starve us into quitting instead of having the decency to lay us off? It is absolutely despicable. My mgr explained it as: You are not laid off and not fired, just placed on release for a new account. My interpretation: You have no work and are not getting paid so why the hell are you still here??
